TeleRoss Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Sky and I skied up to Assblaster Pass on Sunday. Heavy amounts of snow all the way from the Stuart Lake TH. Conditions on the lower trail consisted of variable crusts to deep unconsolided snow making for arduous trail breaking. The north face of Dragontail is looking sweet as well as the TC's. we skied up to Assmblaster Pass in increasing heavy winds. At and above the pass the wind was blowing so hard it was difficult to not get blown over. Gusts were probably 100+mph and combined with all the blowing snow visibility was very difficult at times. We had hoped to ski off Dragontail but decided just to ski from Asgaard pass. There is a ton of snow up there. Most of it above the lake is severely wind affected and in areas there are unstable windslabs. Quote
Chad_A Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Thanks much for the update. Looks like a good winter in the Cascades this year (hopefully) Quote
Gary_Yngve Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 We were up near the Three Brothers yesterday. Not quite as gusty (maybe 40mph), but the skiing was excellent. Hard to believe that Blewitt Pass was bare a year ago. Quote
L0ngpause Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Sounds like some wind. So..was it a fun ski or what? Quote
skykilo Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Caveat dormior  That was pretty quiet for us. Making noise is fun, especially when you eschew sleep to ski all night. Quote
DirtyHarry Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 did you guys take a sled up to Mtneers Crk TH or ski? \ Â Nice work, BTW. Quote
skykilo Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 We skied it all. There was a nice sled track to the Mountaineers Ck TH though; it made for easy kick-and-glide up the road. Quote
TeleRoss Posted January 17, 2006 Author Posted January 17, 2006 Coming right off the pass was like skiing with someone hosing you in the face with a sand blaster....felt great. Quote
pms Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Three Brothers sounds good too. Where did you park G? Quote
