iceaxe23 Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 (edited) I have used the search and see lots of people use these boots. I tried the all black and orange pairs and they did not fit me so well then I got a new pair of the Mcdonalds red, yellow, black ones very cheap new and but these ones fit me. the black ones were made in Italy and the new ones are made in Rumania. I would like to know those of you with these boots do you use seam grip on all seams or just use them out of the box. would you use them on winter climbs with overboots? and how is the durability? thanks all Edited December 13, 2005 by iceaxe23 Quote
John Frieh Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 Seam grip. I wouldn't use them in winter with overboots (I will assume you are talking about the NW) but you might have better circulation than me. I blew them out in a year but I used them fairly often. Quote
Cobra_Commander Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 yeah mine wore out quickly too, but they have been great boots for the n. cascades. They would be a poor choice for winter boots in my opinion. They are fairly cold. They are ideal for spring-fall alpine rock with a bit of snow though. Quote
DirtyHarry Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 Not waterproof enough even with "seam grip." Quote
cj001f Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 Not waterproof enough even with "seam grip." I've stood in streams for an hour and my feet didn't get wet. Quote
Cobra_Commander Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 I found my feet got wet from sweat because of the gore-tex, rather than wet from the outside. When it's wet outside, gore-tex is basically a trashbag. Quote
DirtyHarry Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 I've got older ones w/o the kevlar and goretex or whatever. Maybe the new ones are better. What the fuck were you doing standing in a stream for an hour anyway? Quote
dbconlin Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 I've stood in streams for an hour and my feet didn't get wet. yeah, WHY? Quote
cj001f Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 yeah, WHY? 20" trout on a dry fly (no waders) Quote
iceaxe23 Posted December 15, 2005 Author Posted December 15, 2005 (edited) thanks all that is the kind of info I needed...will seamgrip them up and just use them in spring summer....and start looking for some winter boots... maybe these..lol Edited December 15, 2005 by iceaxe23 Quote
jerseyscum Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 I love my 2004 model Garmont Towers but crampon straps seem more uncomfortable on these than on old-style lightweight leather mtneering boot. Worth the tradeoff for my purposes. No idea how they'd be with strapless. Quote
