For all of you that have fat moon.gif partners... hahaha.gif

Squid Labs has developed an Electronically Sensed Rope - a rope or webbing with integral sensing capability which can be monitored electronically. Our technology can be used to sense wear and load conditions in rope and webbing. We currently work with customers to develop commercial and end-user solutions using our technology, including appropriate sensing elecronics integrated to the application...

...because Smart Rope is embedded with electrically conductive metal fibers, it can sense the amount of weight it is bearing and alert users to a load that is too great. A handheld receiver relays any problems to the owner with a warning message. Smart Rope can also be used for mooring boats, securing valuables or in rescue operations.

Hey Squid! Are all your partners fatties??? hahaha.gif

That sounds cool. There's been a bunch of times where I cut a big ol log and wondered, as the log came tight on the rope, how close I was to the working load of the rope. Of course it really doesn't matter since I've never broke a rope, and close doesn't count. grin.gif

I think a better use for a rope with electrically conductive fibers would be to:

a) shock the shit out of your belayer who's spending WAY too much time scoping out and chatting with the chick on the next route over or just taking a nap,

b) shock the shit out of your lead who's placing gear every two meters and keeps losing your gear but not his.
