Jim Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 These guys have no shame: More than 50,000 acres of old mining claims in Washington -- including some inside Mount Rainier, Olympic and North Cascades national parks -- could be converted to private land under legislation expected to pass the U.S. House next week. The proposal also would open up millions of acres in Washington's national forests -- and more than 350 million acres across the West -- to be newly privatized under a revision of the 1872 Mining Law tucked into a 184-page budget bill. Critics who have dissected the language of the bill say it would make it easy to use a law passed 133 years ago to speed development of ski resorts, golf courses and the like in the backcountry today. http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/248143_mining12.html Quote

catbirdseat Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 I tried to post this Saturday under Access Issues but no moderator would approve it. It's a shame that important issues like this have to be addressed in Spray. Quote
sexual_chocolate Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 True, cuz it very much is an access issue. Quote
chelle Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 I think the mods for access must have been out playing. I've asked the spray mods to move this thread to access. Quote
Fairweather Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 I tried to post this Saturday under Access Issues but no moderator would approve it. It's a shame that important issues like this have to be addressed in Spray. Do you always have your posts "pre-approved" by the mods?? And why would they not approve it? Easier to ask forgiveness than permission. Quote
knotzen Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 I think the Access Forum requires moderator approval before a post will go through, like the Events Forum. You cannot post at will. Quote
Fairweather Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 SHIT!!!! I just tried a test-post there... and you're right. UN-F-ing believable! Say it aint so, John. What has this site become? Quote
Fairweather Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 Whatever. Selective censorship. Funny how liberals believe in open debate...until faced with the real-deal. Quote
olyclimber Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 here is your chance to spin this positive. I'd LOVE to be relaxing at a corporate spa at the Tubal Cain mine right now. Quote
archenemy Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 Whatever. Selective censorship. Funny how liberals believe in open debate...until faced with the real-deal. It really is all the evil liberals fault. Quote
Fairweather Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 The story isn't the issue here, although, if the story as written is true, I am not in favor of said legislation. Quote
archenemy Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 Yeah Oly, the issue is all the damn liberals! Quote
Fairweather Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 Whatever. Selective censorship. Funny how liberals believe in open debate...until faced with the real-deal. It really is all the evil liberals fault. Show me where I'm not correct, re this issue. Quote
archenemy Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 You are always correct; as are all conservatives. Quote
olyclimber Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 I'm sure its the liberals that have brain washed the republicans into submitting this piece of crap piece of legislation. Those damn LIBERALS! <spit that last word out in order to pernouce it correctly> Quote

Fairweather Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 This place is a fuck-fest. I'm really trying to raise a serious question about the moderation here. The very people who one would assume support open debate/ideas here are the same ones who defend limitatons on just that. WHY would something as innocent as an access forum require mod-screening? archenemy Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 And why would anyone limit access to those who can read, write, and use a computer? Sheeze, these guys are lame. Quote
mattp Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 I bdelieve the reason for the access threads restriction, Fairweather, was announced some time back. You apparently missed it. The first post for Access issues and Events appears on the front page. I assume it is set that way because Jon and Tim want to keep the front page clear of trolls, speculation, and other nonsense like uninformed personal attacks. (It is only the first post to a new thread that has this restriction, as far as I know. And I don't know how the interface works - so I can't tell you how you get a post approved. Whenever someone brings something to my attention like the current mining giveaway thread, all I know how to do is post a couple of quotes from somewhere else.) Quote
