EWolfe Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 I hope they do it right, I am afraid of Disneyfication... But I Am SO Psyched!! Quote
magellan Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 It looked too CG in the previews, but I'm probably in. Quote
EWolfe Posted November 5, 2005 Author Posted November 5, 2005 I'm camping out in front of the theater now. Quote
Stonehead Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 Is this another grand scale Good vs. Evil episode? Quote
Stonehead Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 Yeah, they're stuck in bombed out London in the Blitzkreig during the colossal European struggle and the subtext (the imaginary mirror world) is brought to the foreground. Sounds like a good one. Quote
Dru Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 Is the over-the-top Christian symbolism still in place? Quote
magellan Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 CS Lewis was a Christian. He was just telling Christ's story in a childrens fable. Quote
Stonehead Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 Yeah, don't they actually believe in 'the Powers and Principalities', that unseen world of forces, good and evil? Quote
Dru Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 I bet all the American Christian fundies will still hate on it though, cause he was an Anglican, and also cause he put pagan things like Pan in it. Quote
EWolfe Posted November 6, 2005 Author Posted November 6, 2005 They hate everything that contrasts their perspective, though. Buncha hating converters. Quote
AlpineK Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 That was one of my favorite books as a mini. I hope they don't fuck it up. I've also read CS's Out of the Silent Planet trilogy. Both have a lot of christian symbolism in them, but they're good stories, and I don't think CS Lewis would think too much of todays christian fundamentalist freaks. Quote
Double_E Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 nice! Awesome story, that. I never read the book, and I'haven't seen the movie since I was, well ... very young. Seem to really recall liking it a damn lot though. ... when did the animated made-fer-TV movie come out? late 70s? Just put this one on my "saved" section in Netflix... also tried to find the old-school animated one ... they have one from 1988, but not the original. Quote
snugtop Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 Are you really that psyched about a movie coming out? Quote
