rope tarp question...

If you want to protect your rope from the ground, is a cloth barrier sufficient, or do you need plastic? I've heard that dirt can get through to cloth and onto your rope.

You're going to get the best protection from a latex rope tarp. Some folks are going to try to tell you that the sheepskin rope tarps are sufficient, but don't believe them.

I think you should work out a payment plan and charge the dirt for the reduction in your rope's lifespan. That's only fair.

alright--just b/c i should be setting a better example: duckie suggests that anything that will keep your rope from being directly on the dirt is a good start. old blue tarp, shower curtain, tyvek house wrap, epic fabric, old garbage bag, wrapper from a mondo burrito, etc.

 

some materials probably keep dirt from getting to the rope from the bottom better than others but i doubt it makes that much difference. hell despite my best efforts my ropes always come home at least a little dirtier than when they left.
