knelson Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 The division between rich and poor continues to widen. Well... duh. Always has, always will. Quote
Camilo Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 Don't worry. Their money will constantly trickle down into the hands of the middle and lower classes. That's why we have tax cuts. Quote
archenemy Posted September 29, 2005 Author Posted September 29, 2005 Yeah, supply side economics is proven. Quote
olyclimber Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 and you can get jobs as maids and bellhops if you aren't rich. the money will trickle right into your pocket! Quote

olyclimber Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 I just broke a fingernail. Intelligent design tells me that the only recourse I have is tax cuts for the rich. And maybe drill in some refuge or something. Quote
Camilo Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 Exactly. Liberals would just want to throw taxpayer money at it. Pansies. Quote

selkirk Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 That's just a waste of money and won't fix anything. I think we should just give representatives and public officials raises. They deserve it for keeping the money away from the grubby poor people! Quote

If so, and you feel so bad about the "widening gap between rich and poor", nothing is stopping YOU from donating a portion of YOUR salary to someone in the bottom 10% thereby equalizing your income with theirs. Go for it. Oh, yeah, I forgot, the definition of rich for a liberal is: "someone who makes more than me" or better yet "a conservative who makes more than me and doesn't work in arts or entertainment, or head a left-wing interest group" Quote
TREETOAD Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 There is no left wing in the United States, they were all purged in the fifties and sixties during the last evil empire scare. Quote

knelson Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 Always has, always will. In relative terms thats not true. vs. Interesting graph. I'd be curious to know what their definition of "Family Income" is, and if it's the same between the two graphs. Looking at the website those came from, I see their data source is different for each graph. Bells and whistles should be going off in the head when this happens to be watching for some funny business with the statistics. But even if it is true, my point is simple... Those with more disposable income have more to invest thus generating more disposable income, thus having more to invest... It's hard to make something out of nothing. The gap just keeps getting bigger. I'm not sayin' that's a good thing... Quote

Donate every dollar you make over the median income to people who make less than that amount every year of your life. Facta non verba, archenemy. You dislike my response because you're full of crap - like all liberals charity begins with someone else's bank account (the so-called "rich"). Quote

Stonehead Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 I don't believe it's the fact that there is inequity in pay structure, it's just that the inequity is so great. Why do some of the CEO's deserve the money if they have no ethics, eg, Enron, WorldCom, Tyco,... Quote

Umm "Source: Analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data in Economic Policy Institute, The State of Working America 1994-95 (M.E. Sharpe: 1994) p. 37, and U.S. Census Bureau, Historical Income Tables, Table F-3." those are the same sources. KaskadskyjKozak Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 Please KK, explain why social stagnation is a good thing. I'll bet your plot correlates quite well with the size of government - bigger government = more "social stagnation". Your solution would be, of course, bigger government! Or would it be "revolution"? Sorry, but I'll take stagnation over those alternatives. Quote
