kurthicks Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 I lost a carbon fiber Black Prophet near the NE Buttress 1951 snow patch on Johannesberg. The most likely location is marked in the photo. We had to haul my pack on a pitch and it disappeared somewhere in that gulley, just below the first step in the gulley. I know it's a long shot... Kurt Quote
kurthicks Posted July 29, 2005 Author Posted July 29, 2005 I consider it a lost cause. But, I'm just thinking that if someone else happens to climb that route...perhaps they would look for it for me. Quote
kurthicks Posted July 29, 2005 Author Posted July 29, 2005 Not to mention that you have to climb 50 degree snow with a caveman-esque rock for an axe! Quote
sobo Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 Axes are aid. There, someone had to say it. Seriously, bummer about the loss, wazzu. Hope someone finds it and gets it back to you. Quote
ivan Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 awesome - can't wait to hear the trip report. if you were truly a cave-man, you'd use the rock to bash the skull of your partner in and take his axe! if i can get juan psyched up enough, we'll go up there in another week and look for your trash Quote
catbirdseat Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 Resizing so people can see the whole image. Quote
Ireneo_Funes Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 Not to mention that you have to climb 50 degree snow with a caveman-esque rock for an axe! What, you didn't have your nut tool? Quote
sobo Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 Had to do something similar to that about 20 years ago on the Middle Teton Glacier, although I had my trusty Swiss Army knife with me to save the day. Never listen to the ranger when he says that you won't need crampons and ice axe. Well, scratch that; I'm sure he thought that I'd stay on the donkey trail and not go x-country... Quote
