skyhigh Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 I recently learned why people have their ice axes upside down and how my pack would carry them the same way. I began to wonder just what the heck all those other loops and straps and buckles are for. Does anyone know of a good primer for backpack use? Mine is a Dana Design and their site is pretty good but it doesn't address the obvious things like the sewn in webbing with loops. Thoughts? Quote
mec Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 Many options for clipping shit to your pack. Plus they are there for looks... It definitely appears more rugged and outdoorsy if there are loops all over it. Quote
thelawgoddess Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 if you post a pic of your pack, i'm sure you will get some useful (and perhaps not so useful ) suggestions from us. Quote
Dr_Crash Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 I'll take care of some of the not so useful once the pic is posted RE: the sewn in webbing with loops, aka daisy chain, it's there as mec said so you can clip or lash stuff to your pack, using the loops to choose at which height etc. Oh, and what you really want too is a good primer to packing stuff in your pack... drC Quote
Divot Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 They are there for all the gear you forgot to put in which normally pops up just before your climb. Quote
archenemy Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 Is it a true Dana or is it a post-Misty Mtn Dana? this makes a big difference. Quote
