catbirdseat
The freakish, snarling beast in the photograph doesn't have anything to do with the story.
slothrop
WTF kind of a word is "boffins"?
Cobra_Commander
The freakish, snarling beast in the photograph doesn't have anything to do with the story. Â Of course it does. It's a dog, and it's cold. It probably also has a splitting ice cream headache, hence the grimace.
selkirk
Has anybody heard about the frog that freeze solid every winter! Pretty cool stuff. They release a chemical into their cells that keeps the water from crystalizing kind of like an organic anti freeze. My sister had a prof. who brought one to a biology close, froze it, tapped it on the desk a few times to show it was solid then let it thaw out. Seems like that would be a better option, considering they can stay frozen for months at a time.

We put goldfish in our pond, to help keep the icky green stuff from growing, and to give my cats something to play with....well they freeze every winter and come back to life every spring. Â You mean the surface of the pond freezes, right? Goldfish can't survive being frozen.
Dru
It's a pretty easy home experiment. All you need is one goldfish, one ziplock bag of water, and a freezer. Â Goldfishsicles do not suffer from melting the way kiwi-strawberry-speach ones do.
Cobra_Commander
Upon thawing, however, they swim about as well as melted popsicle.
