Skeezix Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 Bowmore. $23.95/liter. It's no Laphroig, but it's not bad. Quote
glacier Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 Bowmore doesn't suck. Love the Big L, but Bowmore's got better balance. Quote
Thinker Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 I 2nd that nomination. I usually buy a really good bottle of scotch and a 2nd tier bottle at the same time...just to stretch it all out a bit. Â More often than not, the 2nd bottle is Bowmore. Quote
AaronB Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 Yeah baby, Lagavulin is the shizzle! Laphroig is good Lagavulin is great.. but Ardbeg is Perfect.. Quote
bunglehead Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 Has anybody here had "Dalwhinnie"? It's the highest altitude distillery in Scotland. At 90 bucks a bottle, it's probably pretty good. Quote
Skeezix Posted April 28, 2005 Author Posted April 28, 2005 You can get Dahlwinnie much cheaper that $90/l... I usually score a bottle of good stuff at the duty-free on my way back from a Canada trip. Quote
AaronB Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 Has anybody here had It's the highest altitude distillery in Scotland. Yup it resides at a ripe old altitude of 1,073 feet.. Better bring oxygen and leave the cigars at home.. Â So I guess I could just go to the bar at the top of the columbia tower (997 feet) which is an elevation of 110 feet above sea level (4th ave entrance) ..would put it at about 1107 feet above sea level.. BUT! The bar is aproximatly 40 feet below the actual height of the building at 1067 feet in elevation.. But if you add that I am almost 6'5" tall, when I tilt my head back, (while sipping scotch) My mouth resides at about 6ft.. or 1073 feet above sea level. Â Quote
bunglehead Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 I'm glad to see somebody has their thinking cap on! 1073 feet! That's twice as high at the altitude I live at! So does single malt taste better all the way up there? Quote
Trundle Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 I assume the bargain Bowmore isn't in WA state? Quote
