catbirdseat Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 I caught the tail end of a report on the TV news last night about a 10 ft high dam at Colchuck Lake being close to failing. I didn't even know Colchuk Lake had a dam. I wonder if they really meant Snow Lake? Quote
Matt_Anderson Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 sure enough. Check out: http://access.wa.gov/news/2005/Apr/n2005312_9324.aspx http://www.ecy.wa.gov/news/2005news/2005-086.html Looks like a whole bunch of water leaked out and they have stopped the local irrigation district from patching it and letting it fill back up until engineers can access the integrity of the dam. No mention of plans to close the trail at this time . . . Quote
NYC007 Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 does that mean there is a great boot pack into the lake... Quote
cicleclimb Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 does that mean there is a great boot pack into the lake... No . . . but there is. Quote
Rad Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 Perhaps climbers should pack a kayak for the descent back to the trailhead... or, if you time it right, you could surf the wave... Hang ten. Quote
