EWolfe Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 How much driving do you do to do what you love to do? Quote
EWolfe Posted February 9, 2005 Author Posted February 9, 2005 I'm guessing that Mike does about the most driving. Quote
John Frieh Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 Over 40K from March to Dec. last year on my … lots of oil changes. Even more suck is some of my partners can't drive a stick (d00kie!)... From 16-20 when I was living in Eugene I put 225K on a rabbit (sold the car at 325K miles!) driving to climb in OR almost exclusively (lots of trips to smith). Roughly 50K a year! Quote
MCash Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 I have never put on less than 30k since I started alpine climbing regularly. Quote
EWolfe Posted February 9, 2005 Author Posted February 9, 2005 I know us carpenter/climber types put on a fair bit of mileage between the two activities. I average about 25-30,000 a year. Quote

If it isn't more than 2 times a week, you best tuck your tail between your legs and run on home. WE'VE GOT STANDARDS HERE! Quote
MCash Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 Regularly is 2 to 4 weekends per month, weather permitting. I'm sure I could put on 60k if I didn't have this M-F job. Quote

I started my M-F in March and found I had way more free time than I did in grad school so I kinda went crazy. Climbed every weekend with the exception (had to move) of 3 during that time period. Good stuff. I definitely know if I was in Seattle I would have put less on the but still a small price to pay for quality climbing in WA. Quote
Ireneo_Funes Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 If I didn't have this MF'n job I'm sure I'd climb at least 2x per week, and be able to call myself a climber. But without the MF'n job I'd have no gear. Or food. Whatcha gonna do? Quote
Ireneo_Funes Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 Maybe if I borrowed Olyposeur's time machine. Quote

I climbed alpine every weekend during July, August, and the first three weeks of September. Total driving, about 20 miles. Location is everything. Quote
