Farrgo Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 Well not that there's any snow now but... they have a message up on their snow report which says they'll update it weekly starting Oct.1. It's Oct. 18 now, that's one hell of a week. Quote
ski_photomatt Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 you mean this one? Â http://www.mtbaker.us/ Â I think it looks pretty nice. I'm not gung ho about the drop down menus, but all the important info is only a click or two from the main page. Granted I haven't actually used it to find anything I needed, but first impressions are good. What do you think sucks about it? Â Added: ah, now I see.. many of the links in the navigation bar don't work Quote
graupel Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 They fail to recognize how the website is an all year round medium for promotion. They de-activate parts of it for the summer when there is no need to do so. As long as they just show dates for things, it could still provide entertainment. Â Basically, their marketing is pretty feeble. Most of it goes into the Banked Slalom snowboard event, and the rest flounders. Quote
AJScott Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 As someone who has worked for the Baker Ski Area, its not hard for me to see why the web page is half assed...Its just the way shit gets done up there....slowly, and half assed. Its how they like it I guess. Personally, it drove me nuts. Quote
eternalX Posted October 18, 2004 Author Posted October 18, 2004 Yea. the sublinks are broken. Once you get into a section you can't get out. How do you not notice that? Any two-bit novice web programmer should be able to create that simple site that it is. Quote
Dru Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 they need gapertimmy, hire him away from flatchelor. Quote
thelawgoddess Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 with all the tech savvy people in wa you'd think they could get any ski bum bozo to make them a kickass website. Quote
iain Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 they need to hire that one guy who draws virtually every ski area map in the world. don't know who it is, but it has to be one guy cause every ski area looks the same on those things Quote

cj001f Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 I know, I'm always getting lost at Summit 77 years old that hole is. Quote

The one on file at skimaps.com is one of his ( http://www.skimaps.com/map1643 ). Though that one is old, I think the newer ones still probably use the same artwork since they haven't changed the lifts (except replaciing 4 & 5 with one lift). Quote
iain Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 Surely someone has a pirate treasure map of that place scribbled down somewhere. Maybe a skull and crossbones near where the boarders come barreling in from the kicker run from norman's in the twilight. Quote
iain Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 You mean this guy  Wow, fice find! Talk about a monopoly! Quote

iain Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 Eyepatches do not aid in judging kicker distances, nor do hooks and peglegs aid in soft landings. Skiing with a parrot on your shoulder would be straight up hilarious though. I might get a fake parrot for this purpose. Quote

PONCHO&LEFTY Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 And how long was Shuksan tagged 9700' on theit maps? probably still is Quote
iain Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 You can barrel into Summit if you take the right turn on the trail. Heart attacks amongst the patrons of Summit ensue. Quote
