blue_morph Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 All my bookmarks have changed for the NOAA Mtn weather forecasts. These are the ones for the western slopes of north cascades...... etc. Perhaps it is a temporary glitch but the message comes up that I need to update my bookmarks. Anyone else having this problem? FWIW I have found those links to be the hardest to find by simply navigating the home page of just about any website I've ever used. Quote
blue_morph Posted October 5, 2004 Author Posted October 5, 2004 This is one of several links I normally use. http://newweb.wrh.noaa.gov/sew/forecast03.html Quote
Ricardo_Montalban Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 mine too i think they have been migrating to a 'new and improved' layout for a while and have finally removed the old. you can enter other cities from Portland home Quote
Sloggo Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 (edited) Post deleted because that link is screwed now, too. Edited October 6, 2004 by Sloggo Quote
Pandora Posted October 6, 2004 Posted October 6, 2004 The one for Rainier (http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/afos/SEA/REC/SEARECSEA)has been down for months It used to say "no current product available" but now I get the same message as blue_morph did, telling me to update my bookmarks. Only it is impossible to find the correct link! Quote
genepires Posted October 6, 2004 Posted October 6, 2004 Try this address. It is for the whole western side but you can find the location on the map. It is definately new with pinpoint forcast. http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/sew/ Quote
Pandora Posted October 6, 2004 Posted October 6, 2004 Thanks, genepires . The link I found for Rainier ( ldfe93u534nlokg ) isn't quite the same as the forecast used to be. The old one had temperature estimates for Longmire, Paradise, Muir, and the summit. I still miss those, but this is much better than using Seattle's forecast and guesswork . Quote
blue_morph Posted October 7, 2004 Author Posted October 7, 2004 Thanks for that link very much! I knew the same information had to be in a different wrapper. From this link you have to point to where you think Mt Baker is to get the "western slopes of the north cascades" forecast, and point to where you think Winthrop is to get the "eastern slopes" and so on. I'll probably point to all the regional ones and recreate my bookmarks. Once you are in your regional forecast there is a new "experimental" feature. You can click right on say 12 miles or so from Stehekin and get a grid cell based forecast for that point. It tells what elevation that point is and in theory can give you a "to the point" forecast. I'm a little skeptical. I have found the regional mountain forecasts to be more than accurate as they come complete with snow level for that area, chance of precip / thundershowers / etc Quote
Ricardo_Montalban Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 (edited) Their 'change of web page' notification is here, but is not helpful in finding old links. the gridpoint forcast is pretty cool, but i miss the daily synopsis. that was helpful in guageing the changes throughout the day. edit: SWEET!! their meteogram's are back up!!
