lancegranite Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Kiteboarding, the newest trustafarian extereme sport, has attracted all those folks who missed the skate/snow/wake/surfing boat. These guys are catching 40 footers, I watched a cat at the lake jump over a 25 foot tree this weekend. Here is a Link to Kiteboarding magazine's site. Check out the videos... Quote
iain Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 take a trip through hood river when the gorge is kicking and you'll see how popular this is. Quote
JosephH Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 They've been sailing quite a bit below and west of Beacon Rock as well. As for altitude - on the wall in the bathroom at Windance in Hood River they have a photo/article of a guy in Hawaii that inadvertantly went on a 20 minute, 600 foot high or so ride and was smart enough to remain calm and fight his way down. Probably the last time he way over-rigs. Quote
cj001f Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 People also do it on skis Kiteboarding's a bit gear intensive for my pocketbook. Quote
ryland_moore Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Also on land. They call it landboarding Quote
larrythellama Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 I've heard horror stories of people getting dragged/slammed/flown in to buildings, highways, rocks, etc... Yikes! Quote
bunglehead Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 I think a sport should be made of tying lawn chairs to hot air balloons and then floating into major flight paths of large metropolitan airports. Quote
murraysovereign Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 "Landboarding"? From the picture, I'd say a better name would be something like "probable compound fracture of the tib/fib". Quote
cj001f Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Yeah, that's the guy. Did he live? Yup. A lawnchair, a BB gun & a 6-pack of Miller Lite. Quote
bunglehead Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 No fuckin way. A BB gun and a six pack? Dude saw it coming. Quote
