sketchfest Posted July 30, 2002 Posted July 30, 2002 Anybody know how to find out if Beacon Rock is open for the season yet? Quote
MATT_B Posted July 30, 2002 Posted July 30, 2002 A friend of mine said he thought it opened up last weekend. He also said you have to pay $5 to park there now. Quote
sketchfest Posted July 30, 2002 Author Posted July 30, 2002 $5! for what? I thought that was a public pull off. I'm getting tired of paying to play. What a bunch of crap! Quote
MATT_B Posted July 30, 2002 Posted July 30, 2002 I think it is a washington state park thing. I will give my friend a call and see what I can find out. Quote
b-rock Posted July 30, 2002 Posted July 30, 2002 South and South East faces are open until February 1st. East face remains closed. There is a $5 parking fee with a self pay station somewhere nearby. Quote
texplorer Posted July 31, 2002 Posted July 31, 2002 5 dollars eh, what crap. I wonder about parking across the road at that little house or somehting. Climbing is getting to be like paying for a greens fee in golfing. Quote
jrb Posted July 31, 2002 Posted July 31, 2002 You can park on a side street across from the Rock (by the Ranger station). If you do go bring some extra webbing. A lot of the rappels need to be replaced, if not rebolted. Quote
sketchfest Posted July 31, 2002 Author Posted July 31, 2002 Thanks for the info. Extra webbing always a good idea. Quote
Dr_Flash_Amazing Posted August 1, 2002 Posted August 1, 2002 Dr. Flash Amazing is astounded. Do you people complaining about use fees not understand? Â If the government starts providing enough money to allow us to use and maintain our "public" lands, how in the hell will they pay for bombs? Did you ever think of that? Thousands of Afghanistanis are armed to the teeth with sticks and grass; we need to bomb them into submission, obviously. Â You'll be wishing you had paid those use fees when the unwashed hordes descend upon is in all their terrorist glory. Quote
Winter Posted August 1, 2002 Posted August 1, 2002 Aw man, can't the good quck find somewhere else to troll after the tragic demise of crag.com? Quote
Dr_Flash_Amazing Posted August 1, 2002 Posted August 1, 2002 Mira, vato; DFA was urged to come here by a certain fwg over at smithrock.com. The Doctor probably won't even stick around, since all the topics seem to be about *gasp* ... alpine climbing. Â Someone let the Doctor know when we can talk bolts and chipped pockets on lovely welded tuff. Â Ciao, Dr. Flash "sports climbing is tops" Amazing Quote

sk Posted August 1, 2002 Posted August 1, 2002 just wondering winter... but did you say that LOUDER the second time? Â I think perhaps the good doc. should expand his horizens. trying new things helps us lowly humans grow and perhaps become better people. Quote
Dr_Flash_Amazing Posted August 1, 2002 Posted August 1, 2002 Ah, yes; don't get the Doctor wrong; he has had a fair number of naturally-protected, more than a five-minute approach, multi-pitch type adventures. It just so happens that he's a grunting, thrutching sport-monkey at heart. Â Aloha, DFA Quote
iain Posted August 1, 2002 Posted August 1, 2002 Uhoh it's Dr. Flash from the infamous and defunct crag.com Quote
