I like these shoes - super comfy, climb 5.8 with the laces tightened, can walk in, do Prusik WR and hike out all in one shoe, but the durability is an issue. Had one pair last 1.5 year, newer pair lasted 2 yrs and both are basically Ok for walking around the Smoke Bluffs but unsuitable for longer hiking now (sucked walking down from Chief summit in them on Monday). thinking of getting some Kayland Superguides, if anyone has any experience with the latter pls. comment. Or if newer Mt Masters (ie built in 2003 or 2004) have increased durability.

i was happy to see that the new masters have sewn toe flaps. the ones on my older ones are flapping like crazy - even after trying to glue them down a few times. they obviously knew it was something they had to fix - i think i might have to call warranty on this one!

Check out these Plenty durable, they got em at Coast Mtn. They got the 'Dru' sole too rolleyes.gif Climbs well.

I looked at those, but Valhalla's were a size too small and Coast's were a size too big. frown.gif Otherwise I would have bought 'em.
