Dru Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 I like these shoes - super comfy, climb 5.8 with the laces tightened, can walk in, do Prusik WR and hike out all in one shoe, but the durability is an issue. Had one pair last 1.5 year, newer pair lasted 2 yrs and both are basically Ok for walking around the Smoke Bluffs but unsuitable for longer hiking now (sucked walking down from Chief summit in them on Monday). thinking of getting some Kayland Superguides, if anyone has any experience with the latter pls. comment. Or if newer Mt Masters (ie built in 2003 or 2004) have increased durability. Quote
JackY Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 I think the 03's are better but I'm still testing mine. Quote
PaulB Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 Does anyone know if the Guide Tennies 5.10 brought back last year are any more durable than the Mt. Masters? Quote
thelawgoddess Posted May 26, 2004 Posted May 26, 2004 i was happy to see that the new masters have sewn toe flaps. the ones on my older ones are flapping like crazy - even after trying to glue them down a few times. they obviously knew it was something they had to fix - i think i might have to call warranty on this one! snoboy Posted May 26, 2004 Posted May 26, 2004 Dru, I think Mr. Wild has a pair of those Kayland thingies, you might wanna ask him about them. Quote
Dru Posted May 26, 2004 Author Posted May 26, 2004 murray doesnt have the superguide in yet and the trotter is closed out. thanks for trying to be helpful though. Quote
PaulB Posted May 26, 2004 Posted May 26, 2004 Check out these Plenty durable, they got em at Coast Mtn. They got the 'Dru' sole too Climbs well. I looked at those, but Valhalla's were a size too small and Coast's were a size too big. Otherwise I would have bought 'em. Quote
slothrop Posted May 26, 2004 Posted May 26, 2004 Fish's website has a pair of sz 8 women's Mtn Masters on sale for $60. Quote
