Trango Aluminium Crampons

Does anyone have experience with the Trango Aluminium campons with the front and back straps? I was thinking of getting a pair of aluminium crampons and noticed the Trangos are a couple of ounces lighter than the Stubais and are a bit cheaper with the sale coupon from Marmot.

Check out the Camp XLC490s. I went with those cause they had a more agressive secondary point and were even lighter still...

Yeah, those were the ones I wanted too, but I couldn't find them on sale anywhere. The Burton "Trampons", which are exactly the same as the Stubai pons, can be found on Ebay for ~$30, so I bought em.

I've got a pair I bought last year. I've used these things maybe 8-10 times so far. I use them mostly for approaches to summer alpine rock climbs. They've worked great for that purpose. I've got the model with the plastic bale front and rear and it's secure on even soft tennies. (although the whole setup feels mo better with a stiffer shoe). The rear bale has a small bolt and nut that you can move to a different hole to change the size for different footwear, I was concerned at first that this was a potential failure point - but I haven't had any issues with it and it seems burly enough.

 

Only negative so far: The bales are really stiff and don't collapse into a nice neat little package for carrying like the stubais.

Yep, I have a pair of strap-ons. I havent taken them out as much as I'd like. But they seem real sturdy. More so than the Stubais I think. Two thumbs up.

I have the Lowe/Camp Ultralites and I love them. I think that PMS carries them.
