JoshK Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 BWAHAHHA! That looks like a well respected peer-reviewed informational site if I've ever seen one! Quote
Squid Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 I'm willing to believe that Moore was wrong about the Littlewood facilities, but you'll have to substantially back up your argument. An unsourced quote from McCollum simply makes it one man's word against anothers. Besides, the last time I talked with friends who work for Lockheed, they weren't allowed to tell me specifically what they worked on, i.e. this will be a particularly thorny issue to resolve, since it is often gov't policy to deny defense activites at certain sites. You'll have to work hard to be convincing on this issue, or just move on to the next one. Quote
cracked Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 Oh, Jesus Christ people, don't you EVER get TIRED of this BULLSHIT? Â Moore is an asshole, or he isn't. You've made up your mind, it's not gonna change. IMHO, he's a piece of shit, but really, WHO GIVES A FUCK? Quote
Squid Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 Dude! That is such a great link! Â I was wondering where all the head-cases went to have their beliefs confirmed! Quote
scott_harpell Posted May 14, 2004 Author Posted May 14, 2004 JoshK... what percentage of the articles you have contributed to this message board have been peer reviewed? Quote

JoshK Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 scott, you may want to present something other than a whole bunch of linkes from some dude's anti-moore website if anybody is to care. Quote
scott_harpell Posted May 14, 2004 Author Posted May 14, 2004 In a 1996 interview with World Socialist Web, Moore uses his fellow citizens as a convenient cudgel with which to beat corporate America: Â ?I?ve always felt that the American people are not as stupid as Hollywood thinks they are.? Â Said Moore to a German audience: Â "(Americans) are possibly the dumbest people on the planet ... in thrall to conniving, thieving, smug pricks. We Americans suffer from an enforced ignorance. We don?t know about anything that?s happening outside our country. Our stupidity is embarrassing.? Â Yeah... really out for the people... raking in the deutch marks while trash talking his own people. Quote
klenke Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 Squid, the problem is when it's one man's word against another and neither can be proven by the objective analyzer (us), we tend to go with the word that jives with our own viewpoint. The moderate thing to do is to weigh each and then decide. If a definitive decision cannot be made based on the evidence, then you can choose to A) abstain, or B) go with gut feeling. Neither is necessarily wrong, but most go with the latter because they don't want to "waste their vote." Â Concerning secrecy at Lockheed, not every worker there and/or every plant makes secret products. Sure there are the Skunk Works, but there are other open "works" too. Â I know, I know. I've said nothing. Always nothing. Quote
scott_harpell Posted May 14, 2004 Author Posted May 14, 2004 Hey Josh... I started the thread with 2 that you didn't read, so what is the use? You have obviously chosen to agree with him based on similar political affiliations anyway. Quote

Yeah... really out for the people... raking in the deutch marks while trash talking his own people.  I'd agree our populace doesn't know shit about what is happening outside of our country. Why do you think 9/11 was called a "wake-up call"  Face it, if people in this country paid attention we wouldn't have W as president. Then again, maybe I *am* not giving us enough credit, after all, more people voted against him than for him.  Are you really canadian? Most canadians I have met are on the right side of this issues... Quote

Squid Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 Klenke- Yeah, this thread is becoming overly tedious. We'll discuss the matter this weekend like gentlemen: over tequila. Â c-ya Quote

IMHO, he's a piece of shit, but really, WHO GIVES A FUCK? No, cracked, we don't get tired of this bullshit because we're losers who don't have anything else to give a fuck about during the morning, during the day, in the evening, and while we're lying awake at night. Â I can just sense j_b poring through all my political posts trying to answer my question. Chug-a-chug-a chug-a-chug-a chug-a-chug a. Quote
j_b Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 j_b: Which Iraqi policy that kills Iraqis are you purporting that I am in support of? Refresh my memory. Â are you going to pretend that you are/were against this war? i just did a search of your posts about iraq just to make sure, and indeed i cannot find a single statement expressing disagreement with the present war but i did find many statements justifying current administration policies in the middle east. Â I do believe my viewpoint on the Israel wall is a moderate one. But that's my belief and probably what a lot of moderates would be in line with (conjecture). Â since when is it a moderate positrion to support the building of a wall around communities to prevent the free movement of persons, a wall that takes away arable land and aquifers? Â Where as I can be swayed to one side or the other, sadly, you cannot. You're definitely too liberal to understand persuasion other than you attempting to persuade others to yours. Ergo, right back at you: give us a break, will ya? Â sorry, but 99% of your politics are conservative and you are not showing anymore ability to be swayed than i am. as far as i am concerned, i am progressive and proud of it. in turn, i believe that placing human dignity first, be it that of americans or other, is the moderate position. Squid Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 half-time scorecard: Klenke and j_b : focus on the topic; we're talking Micheal Moore here  Cracked: you've summed up politics nicely. Now get involved.  Scott: you relying on silly sources. do more homework  JoshK: doing well. I think you're ahead right now.  Ok, boys, break is over. Get out there and give 'em hell! Quote
JoshK Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 Hey Josh... I started the thread with 2 that you didn't read, so what is the use? You have obviously chosen to agree with him based on similar political affiliations anyway. Â I read both of the linkes you posted originally. If you'll actually go back and read the thread you'll see that. Actually both links were the same thing when I clicked on them. Perhaps you have fixed it, I will go back and check. Â I do agree with him and what he stands for. You obviously think he's a liar. That's good for you. I think your president is a liar. Â Now I ask you this...what is worse, a lying filmmaker or a lying president? Quote
cracked Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 Politics is a bunch of lame asses quibbling and our culture places quite some emphasis on being 'involved'. This is sickening. Quote
