marylou Posted May 7, 2004 Posted May 7, 2004 I think I hate Internet Exploder, so I'm trying out some other browsers. Anyone have any reccos, or browsers to avoid? I'm currently trying out Mozilla and Opera, so far both are better than IE. Quote
snoboy Posted May 7, 2004 Posted May 7, 2004 OPERA! OPERA! OPERA! I've got loads of tips for you if you choose that one... Quote
marylou Posted May 7, 2004 Author Posted May 7, 2004 I don't have a very big/fast computer, and I'm still on dial-up....BUT, with IE I have problems with hanging and crashing. AND, it's kind of big, which since my system resources are strained at hte moment, something smaller and lighter would be good. None of the other ones I've tried seem to have that hanging/crashing problem. Plus, I'm digging on this "tabbed browsing thing." Quote
JoshK Posted May 7, 2004 Posted May 7, 2004 I can definitely see the slow computer issue. IE is big. I just find most people tend to complain about it simply because it's microsoft. It always works fine for me and stuff actually shows up correctly which is more than you could say for nutscrape. Quote
marylou Posted May 7, 2004 Author Posted May 7, 2004 Yah, it's really not the MS thing....more like it just isn't working for me. Quote
snoboy Posted May 7, 2004 Posted May 7, 2004 So Marylou, what exactly is wrong with IE? For me, and I am not marylou, it is not so much what is wrong with IE, but what is so much better about Opera. It is just so much more functional, it make IE look like a Dodge Caravan vs. a Porsche 944. They both get you to the store, but one is oh so much nicer to drive. Of course there are things "wrong" with IE that many people wouldn't even realize... like lack of support for PNG transparencies. Quote
icegirl Posted May 7, 2004 Posted May 7, 2004 firefox is scary fast on OS X (squidly, are you paying attention?) Quote
marylou Posted May 29, 2004 Author Posted May 29, 2004 I like Opera, but am still fiddling a bit with FF. If I open IE when Opera's open, my PC shuts down, and I'm not too fond of that. I wonder if a PC user who uses FF can tell me if there is any way to set it up to "remember" all last tabs that were open when starting a new session with FF. Quote
Fat_Teddy Posted May 31, 2004 Posted May 31, 2004 There is. I saw someone asking for bug fixes on it. I'll look through the forums and see if I can find it. Quote
swaterfall Posted May 31, 2004 Posted May 31, 2004 NetCaptor is a shell that makes IE actually work good. Quote
