Redoubt Posted April 11, 2004 Posted April 11, 2004 Anyone know anything about a Hood rescue yesterday (4/10)? There's a small bit on kgw.com about a search for injured/lost climbers somewhere around Yokum and the Reid, but I can't find any other info. Quote
iain Posted April 11, 2004 Posted April 11, 2004 2 climbers stuck on the upper buttress of Yocum. A hoist was not successful, so they were "encouraged" down the exit gulley to Leuthold Couloir around 3 in the morning. It took hours to find them, nestled up in the rime, so it went well into the night. A very happy ending. Quote
texplorer Posted April 11, 2004 Posted April 11, 2004 What route were they trying to do? There are alot more people up on that side of the mountain than I thought. Quote
Billy Posted April 11, 2004 Posted April 11, 2004 What's up with the current fashionable obsession for Yocum? Quote
iain Posted April 11, 2004 Posted April 11, 2004 No kidding Billy. They were trying to do Leuthold Couloir, but took a bit of a left turn in the dark. They were way the hell up there on the south side of the ridge, in a rime gulley. My goal is not to wind up on the reid glacier for at least one weekend this month. Quote
