Necronomicon Posted June 4, 2002 Posted June 4, 2002 I is just a po' boy... Got in touch with White Saddle Helicopter Service for their rates into Waddington, $899 CAN per hour, and it's 1.6-2.0 hours round trip, depending where they drop you off. Yikes!, especially since I am planning to split the cost with one other climber. Does anyone know of other services that offer lower rates, or is this pretty much standard? I'm thinking maybe Ralph at Ralph's Auto Empire has a homemade rig he could loan us for cheap. Peas out, -Dog Quote
AlpineK Posted June 4, 2002 Posted June 4, 2002 Helicopters are not cheap. The helicopter service in Pemberton gets $1,400/hr CAN for helicopter time. [ 06-04-2002, 07:25 AM: Message edited by: AlpineK ] Quote
Stefan Posted June 4, 2002 Posted June 4, 2002 Maybe you can get them to make you a nice lunch on the glacier like this one: http://www.glacierair.com/Tours-Special.htm Quote
fishstick Posted June 4, 2002 Posted June 4, 2002 Whitesaddle is the absolute gold standard in regards to service, communication and area knowledge including terrain and weather patterns. If you look at the cost of maintaining and insuring a helicopter, and the risks of flying in that environment, it becomes obvious why the costs are so high. GB Quote
Dru Posted June 4, 2002 Posted June 4, 2002 Mike King kicks ass, here he comes to pull us out just ahead of a nasty storm. Go Whitesaddle!!! Quote
Necronomicon Posted June 4, 2002 Author Posted June 4, 2002 Thanks for the beta. I need a wife with a job... Quote
iain Posted June 4, 2002 Posted June 4, 2002 even in it's current state, you could probably get more than a few bell 407's for the price of that pavehawk. Quote
Terminal_Gravity Posted June 5, 2002 Posted June 5, 2002 I think there is a helicopter on Hood you could get for cheap. Quote
