thelawgoddess Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 which chaco's are best for friction climbing? approaches? Quote
Dru Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 the ones with the toe-loop. mine have lasted 4 years with almost no sole wear Quote
thelawgoddess Posted March 22, 2004 Author Posted March 22, 2004 i think there's more than one model with a toe loop. i was wondering more about the sole. Quote
Dru Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 mine has a vibram, non marking sole with a sort of jig saw pattern tread design. it might be the Tokay? all black webbing.no brand name on it. Quote
lummox Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 chacos are way last decade. havaianas are going that way but will be cool for one more season. try the trekking model complete with coca-cola logo : Quote
Ryan Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 I've got the Z2, which has the toe loop on it. There's the Z1, which is basically the Z2 with no toe loop. The sole on mine are vibram, but are not the same tread as Dru's...a bit smoother, still works well for hiking around in the summer. Get a pair, they're awesome! Quote
snoboy Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 OK, here it is: Â There's Chaco's with or without toe loops, Z-2, and Z-1, respectively... Â Then you get to choose your sole, Colorado sole, best for wet rock (rivers), the Terreno sole, basically a Vibram lug sole, and the 5.10 Aqua Stealth dot-tread. Â Continue your discussion... Quote
pu Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 Definately the Z2. As for which sole, both options are vibram. The lugged one is the Terrano and the smoother one is the Colorado. I think the Colorado is better for friction on approaches and it is slightly lighter. Quote
snoboy Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 The colorado sucks on muddy hikes down though. Quote
Dru Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 dot tread wears out super fast based on second hand experience Quote
erik Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 the one with the lug sole. it will ast longer. i do not think that there would be much difference between the friction on approaches. as one with common sense would wear the proper footwear for the given activity. Quote
