EWolfe Posted March 12, 2004 Posted March 12, 2004 Weather looks good for tomorrow - who's going? Quote
dberdinka Posted March 12, 2004 Posted March 12, 2004 Thursday was T-shirt weather at the LTW. Only half a dozen folks, all from B'ham. Little drips here and there but everything is pretty much dry. Gonna be there tomorrow. Yea-hah! QUESTION: What is an honest rating for the third (guidebook 11a) pitch of Heart of the Country? Quote
TimL Posted March 12, 2004 Posted March 12, 2004 Guide says 11a. It feels more like mid 5.10. Its just one bouldery move if I remember correct. Quote
Gary_Yngve Posted March 12, 2004 Posted March 12, 2004 The third pitch of HoC is 10a. It's a little funky and off-balance gaining the start of the handcrack proper, but then it's sweet. The 11a part is the thinner (ring jams for me) crack that goes from the anchor at the top of HoC to the anchor at the top of G-M. It still doesn't feel 5.11a though. Quote
Greg_W Posted March 12, 2004 Posted March 12, 2004 THere will be a "Closed for Cleaning" sign at the base of GNS to discourage gapers. Bwahahaha!!! Quote
chucK Posted March 12, 2004 Posted March 12, 2004 That upper part of HOC is easy (10a/b?) if you find the hold. If you try to stay in the crack all through the bulge it's probably much closer to 11a. Perhaps the key hold wasn't there when the pitchlet got it's original rating. I would bet that the hold has since been unearthed, demossed, or the rock has shifted or something. Quote
whirlwind Posted March 12, 2004 Posted March 12, 2004 (edited) THere will be a "Closed for Cleaning" sign at the base of GNS to discourage gapers. Bwahahaha!!! that'd be some funny shit i bet it would turn alot of people back Edited March 12, 2004 by wirlwind Quote
Squid Posted March 12, 2004 Posted March 12, 2004 Don't discourage the spring tide of new leaders on the GNS. Recovering their abandoned gear is the only way I can afford to build a rack! Quote
Alpinfox Posted March 13, 2004 Posted March 13, 2004 Mr.E, Did you find a partner? If not, I'm interested. What time are you going to be at the lot? Anyone else? Quote
EWolfe Posted March 13, 2004 Author Posted March 13, 2004 I am meeting Mr. Natural around 9 or 10, but he has a partner. Look for me in the morning, I have a Eurovan camper with wash plates. Quote
Alpinfox Posted March 13, 2004 Posted March 13, 2004 I saw Mr. Natty tonight and he might be a bit slow tomorrow morning. I'll try to get there by 10. I've got a green Suby station wagon. Quote
