RuMR Posted February 23, 2004 Posted February 23, 2004 any opinions on good destination climbing areas for families???? Quote
RuMR Posted February 23, 2004 Author Posted February 23, 2004 I've heard that from several independent sources! I think city of rox would be good too...the camping there rocked 10 years ago, don't know how it is now though... Quote
Peter_Puget Posted February 23, 2004 Posted February 23, 2004 I guess time of year would be a big factor too. Will your littlest one be able to avoid the omnipresent cactus? Ouch! Greta place to run around in the spring. Quote
RuMR Posted February 23, 2004 Author Posted February 23, 2004 he gets one "owie" and he'll avoid them like the plague! ahahahahaha Quote
Distel32 Posted February 23, 2004 Posted February 23, 2004 hhhhmmm if it happens to be march20-28th then Joe's Valley sucka!!! Quote
Off_White Posted February 23, 2004 Posted February 23, 2004 We had a great family outing at Spring Mountain in Eastern Oregon, nice mix of easy & hard, all at that family friendly 1/2 pitch length. Free camping, no forest pass needed, but it's too early if you're thinking to go really soon. Quote
chucK Posted February 23, 2004 Posted February 23, 2004 Squamish has worked well for us. There are a couple good crags for kids, and a bunch of other stuff for them to do (Murrin Park, good community center pool, train museum, more ? ...) Always thought City of Rocks would be perfect, and sounds like Joshua Tree too, flat base areas, single-pitch climbs. Quote
lancegranite Posted February 24, 2004 Posted February 24, 2004 The City of Rocks is one of the most friendly areas we have climbed at. Try and stock up with supplies before you go, as amenities are somewhat distant. Showers in the small town of Alamo, but a solar shower is such the luxury... Quote
lummox Posted February 24, 2004 Posted February 24, 2004 any opinions on good destination climbing areas for families???? i got a opinion: do not mix climbing with family vacations because you will do neither very well. Quote
