I saw this bit last night, and wasn't too impressed. If it had been funny I could see it as "biting satire" or some such. But it was utterly unfunny, and revolved around deliberately insulting people simply for the sake of insulting people. I can understand how people are unhappy about it, particularly since NBC used Canadian tax dollars to pay for it.

Conan is wacked, twisted and demented. I can't believe anyone on here is upset about that.

They had one part on the show where they had the little Quebec children eating the frozen maple sugar on a stick. Then they had Truimph (dog puppet) piss in the snow and the little kids eating it. I don't think I ever laughed so hard at a late night show.

I thought he did go overboard with the being obnoxious because you're French. I was kinda surprised at that cause it was just a straight out insult and not even funny, which made me kinda laugh at the same time as going holy crap the French would kill him if they weren't so quick to surrender.

I mean really he had a good point. When the one man was yelling at him for not speaking French he started yelling back to wake up and look at where he was living.

It was like everything that us Westerners want to say but are too afraid of our Country getting divided over it. We just paid $750,000 to have someone from the U.S. do it. This way, when Quebec has their hissy fit, we can just say it was an ignorant American and we don't feel that way at all. Meanwhile we can chuckle as we think back to the look on thier faces as we replaced their French only signs with something that we should both be able to understand.

Actually the yellow snow thing was pretty funny... as was the separation from doughnuts remark...

The only annoying thing was he was applying European French stereotypes (obnoxious, stinky, surrendering, etc...) to Quebecois. Typical British ignorance smirk.gif... uh, I mean American ignorance.
