ridehikeclimbski Posted February 4, 2004 Posted February 4, 2004 I used to stay at the Super 8 when I skied Whistler in pre 911, now I finally got my birth certificate and want to head up there. When I got on the Super8.com...no listing on the motel, did it change owners and what is current name ? My kids sure like the slide in the indoor pool. Thanks for any answers Quote
snoboy Posted February 4, 2004 Posted February 4, 2004 Yes it has changed names. Link to new name. Quote
Dru Posted February 4, 2004 Posted February 4, 2004 And you can try and eat the Peacekeeper breakfast Quote
skyclimb Posted February 4, 2004 Posted February 4, 2004 the hostel is also really nice there, but probably not the best place for kids. Pictures of lamas, and goats strung up in barbed-wire tend to adorn the entry way Really cheap(12 dollars a night). Nice amenities. How much is the "super 8" or whatever??? probably like 30 eh? Quote
skyclimb Posted February 4, 2004 Posted February 4, 2004 I answered my own question, 94 bucks a night. But hey, they have irons in the rooms, perfect for waxing up the board after a long day of riding Quote
snoboy Posted February 4, 2004 Posted February 4, 2004 That the new hostel though? I think it is a bit nicer these days. Quote
fern Posted February 4, 2004 Posted February 4, 2004 motel rooms at the new squamish hostel ("The Inn by the Water" are $59. Quote
murraysovereign Posted February 4, 2004 Posted February 4, 2004 New Squamish International Hostel Much, much better than the old one. Quote
skyclimb Posted February 4, 2004 Posted February 4, 2004 yeah, that place rocks! All climbers pretty much, good place to meet people for sure Quote
colt45 Posted February 5, 2004 Posted February 5, 2004 For a super cheap ski trip, you can always camp in Squamish. The Chief campground is free in the winter! Quote
jordop Posted February 5, 2004 Posted February 5, 2004 And you can try and eat the Peacekeeper breakfast On your recomendation, we tried this once in the fall and IT BLOWS. I sent the eggs back twice cause they were cold and runny. There aint nothing special bout that one TOMAHAWK s Quote
Dru Posted February 5, 2004 Posted February 5, 2004 sounds like u got some bad service, its cuz i told them u were coming... you don't know what else runny was in yo egg besides egg Quote
jordop Posted February 5, 2004 Posted February 5, 2004 Maybe it's cause I asked if I could pay in pencil shavings Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted February 5, 2004 Posted February 5, 2004 Peacekeeper was consumed by me. With problems and it was good stuff Quote
Dru Posted February 5, 2004 Posted February 5, 2004 Peacekeeper was consumed by me. With problems and it was good stuff i seem to recall it defeated you and some was left on the plate but i have no photo evidence to prove my recollection... Quote
ridehikeclimbski Posted February 5, 2004 Author Posted February 5, 2004 Thanks for the links to the accomodations however after reading all the hoopla on how to be a ultra cheapskate on CC.com, I decided to skin up Blackcomb with AT and camping gear. Get a non-validated ticket from a supermarket as mentioned on an old thread , build a multi level snow cave per instructions from the new thread on hardcore snow-camping and after reading about RUNNY eggs I rather cook my own breakfast. Heck I could spend a week or a month up there skiing the upper lifts for free !! Quote
