tasmith513 Posted April 9, 2002 Posted April 9, 2002 Does anyone know if the mountain masters resole reasonably well? Or am I just better off getting a new pair? Thanks, T.S. Quote
erik Posted April 9, 2002 Posted April 9, 2002 i wondered the same thing....but after it got to the point of repsoling them, the shoe was soo broken down that it was going to be a waste of oney.... i say get new ones [ 04-09-2002: Message edited by: erik ] Quote
rayborbon Posted April 9, 2002 Posted April 9, 2002 I have resoled tennies. Not this brand. Worked fine for me. Saved me lots of money since those type of shoes are expensive. Quote
bobinc Posted April 9, 2002 Posted April 9, 2002 I've worn my pair almost every day for 2+ yrs. They need a new sole, but I'll bet that will cost at least 1/2 the price of a new pair. Since the uppers are breaking down somewhat, I'll probably just buy the new pair. Quote
allison Posted April 9, 2002 Posted April 9, 2002 Anything you want resoled, take it to Ramuta Shoe Repair, in downtown Sea on 6th and Stewart. John Ramuta is a climber, and they do, IMO MUCH better work than the shop in Fremont, maybe cheaper, and the best part is when you bring in climbing shoes that you have trashed the rands on, they will not yell at you and make you feel like an idiot for waiting too long. I believe both Vert Worlds have shoe dropoffs at the gym for Ramuta resole service, they come by the gym once or twice a week, pick them up, bring them back, really handy! Quote
Peter_Puget Posted April 9, 2002 Posted April 9, 2002 I have to agree with the A-Dog an that one. Ramuta's redid my shoes and they are even better than they were new, and my rands were toast, and Ramuta's fixed those too! In short, they rock. Quote
Smoker Posted April 9, 2002 Posted April 9, 2002 Yeah, I have had a few shoes done by John Ramuta. Shot rands and all. He rocks. Great job every time. Seems like it ran 35 bones last time. Well spent bread. Smoker Quote
Dave_Schuldt Posted April 10, 2002 Posted April 10, 2002 Dave Page is a butcher. He is fine for boots but sucks for rock shoes. Ramutas' is great. Quote
Country_Jake Posted April 10, 2002 Posted April 10, 2002 check out the 5.10 web site they have info on resoling... worth a check since the stelth sole might be hard to come by in regulare shoe shops... I dono???? Quote
tasmith513 Posted April 10, 2002 Author Posted April 10, 2002 Thank you for all the input folks. Have a great one..... T.S. Quote
LUCKY Posted April 11, 2002 Posted April 11, 2002 The mountain masters can not be resoled. the sole is bonded to the midsole. A pair lasts me over a year before they are trashed. I am on my third pair. Love that S1 sticky rubber, when I walk across the wet grass than across my driveway I can hear the little pebbles picking up and dropping. They are the shit for the wet trails of washington, I have also done long approaches with a heavy pack, they climb well but do not edge that great they are soooo comfortable . If I am not in rock shoes I am wearing them. They will put black marks on your mom's or girl friends floor. Quote
rayborbon Posted April 11, 2002 Posted April 11, 2002 Hello Lucky, I never used Ramuta. Seems as if he does good work. I just had Dave Page resole 4 sets of rock shoes. I think the work I got was excellent. I will use him in the future. Not taking anything away from Ramuta Lucky, when are we going to climb Tumwater Tower? It's in. Quote
