Doctorb Posted December 12, 2003 Posted December 12, 2003 When I pass a leader on an Alpine Climb, I usually tie him off to his last peice of gear with a clove hitch, so that he is forced to stop, and I can get by. Then, when I get to the belay, I kick a few rocks or some ice down, when I can, to teach him and his team mates about the importance of speed in the mountains. My question is: Is there a better knot for tying off a climber that you're passing? Or will a clove hitch work the best? I personally like the clove hitch because it is easy to tie with one hand. catbirdseat Posted December 12, 2003 Posted December 12, 2003 Nice troll. Why not just cut his rope and give him a shove? Quote

David_Parker Posted December 12, 2003 Posted December 12, 2003 That knot is not tied correctly. It's supposed to have 13 wraps. I wouldn't trust it. Quote
