mtn_mouse Posted December 3, 2003 Posted December 3, 2003 Soon we will not need debate whether colorado snow or PNW snow is best. TURIN, Italy (AP) -- Global warming is threatening the world's ski resorts, with melting at lower altitudes forcing the sport to move higher and higher up mountains, according to a United Nations study released Tuesday. Downhill skiing could disappear altogether at some resorts, while at others, a retreating snow line will cut off base villages from their ski runs as soon as 2030, warned the report by the U.N. Environment Programme. "Climate change is happening now. We can measure it," said Klaus Toepfer, executive director of the U.N. program. "This study shows that it is not just the developing world that will suffer." Quote
thelawgoddess Posted December 4, 2003 Posted December 4, 2003 that's old news. we all know it's happening. (don't we?) i can definitely tell you the snow isn't here (in colorado) right now. there is very little terrain open at telluride and i've been bored off of my ass skiing ... so i've had to resort to trying something new - knuckledragging. Cpt.Caveman Posted December 8, 2003 Posted December 8, 2003 Yes Bush is attempting to degrade snow conditions in the white house now. It looks as if he is failing here so far. Quote
