Presidents and thier troops

So I saw on the Thanksgiving thread that some one made a point on why Bush wasnt wearing a flight suit with noticable sarcasm.

Bush came on board my Aircraft Carrier. The USS Abraham Lincoln. We were one day out of san diego and aside from 24 hrs in Hawaii a few days before had not set foot on land in 5 months. When we found out that we would not pull in for 24 hrs...we were pissed. When we found out it was because the President was coming on board....WE WERE HAPPY TO STAY AT SEA. I was inside the Island of the flight deck when he landed. He was suppose to be hurried by Secret Service past us into his quarters.....After his landing he came to where we were, saw some of us, pushed passed secret service shook our hands and said thank you....I have met admirals and generals who shook my hand and mearly glanced at my name tag. Our Commander in Chief, made eye contact and did not act impressive or domminant, but honestly grateful to ALL of us on board. As he ate dinner with us his demeanor was the same, we were in awe that he bothered to come see us, and he seemed genuine when he thanked us. I would rather have a president that comes to see his troops on there turf and in a warzone..than some fat ass who sends an e-mail or invites us away from our job. Bush despite any criticism Leads from the front...a long lost art of leadership...he brings his checkbook to the table and deals with the consequences. We would rather have seen him in a flight suit than anything else..it showed esprit de corp, but that may be a term some of you pussies are not familliar with.

But rest assured your criticism is welcomed, by doing the things in war that we do by his leadership, you prove that America is more free than any other country, there for your bitching proves that our cause works. Bitch on. bigdrink.gifthumbs_up.gif

Thanks Dutch. Will do. I will gladly excersise my right to my opinion.....but I'm not thanking Bush for it. There are people (like yourself, if you are legit) that would (and are) actually be protecting that right no matter what administration was in power, and I thank them.

I'm glad that you got to shake his hand though and that he looked into your eyes! rolleyes.gif Did you ask him where he was when he went AWOL from the National Guard? thumbs_down.gif

I will make sure to ask him next time I come home from a deployment.....(meaning probly never)

One post on te topic of rights of oppinion. right after we got home I went to the U district and was in a rather free minded bar...I will cut this story short by saying never go into a college bar looking like a member of the military anytime in the duration of this war. You will not pick up on any chics and there is anything but friendly conversation

"A soldier will perform miracles for you if he thinks you care. Make an effort to take care of him and he will walk through hell, not because he likes war or wants medals or because of orders, but because he is part of something larger, a unit. He wants to do a good job, as recognized by those around him. He wants to be respected and seen as valuable."

I don't like Bush. That being said, I gained a lot of respect for him by showing up in Bahgdad for thanksgiving and serving the tropps dinner. No President has ever stepped foot in Iraq and he went during a war! What a huge moral booster! He didn't even tell the secret service where they were going until the plane was in the air. He also said if any word got out as to where they were going, they would turn the plane around. The desire to be there must have been big to pull this off. That showed leadership. Like him or not, you have to respect that.

We'll hit up a pub club when I get back, and I'll buy a round for everyone who sent me banana bread and cookies while I was deployed. bigdrink.gif

You actually think Laura cooks? Those government-union cooks in the White House would be all over that! rolleyes.gif

Yes, it's commendable that he went to Iraq...and I'm sure it has nooothing to do with publicity and the election less than a year away. rolleyes.gif

He's a pathetic president and if all you can commend him for is making a media appearance on your aircraft carrier, than that doesn't say much about him.

Eat a dick. If all you say about your mother is she went to the store last tuesday to buy you a present, does that mean she's not a good woman? No, it means that she went to the fuckin store. Should we have to list everything we like about him every time we mention his name? Fuck you. HCL.gif
