scrambler Posted September 11, 2003 Posted September 11, 2003 From this: A weird duo to this: Politician or actor? And this: Politician or media whore? And maybe this: Mouthpiece for Warren Buffett? Quote
scrambler Posted September 11, 2003 Author Posted September 11, 2003 In contrast to Greg_W's thread, let me point out that the faces on this thread consist of 3 Republicans, one Independent and no Democrats. You can add to the list of Republicans by including Fred Grandy (The Lover Boat) and the late Sonny Bono. Quote
Greg_W Posted September 11, 2003 Posted September 11, 2003 Sonny Bono was a Republican? What was Clint Eastwood (Mayor of Carmel)? Fred Thompson (Senator from Tennesee?) was a Republican. It's funny you bring this up, it seems that Republicans are getting into politics and the Democrats (like Martin Sheen, Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins, et al) just sit on the outside and carp about everything. scrambler Posted September 11, 2003 Author Posted September 11, 2003 (edited) I think anyone, well almost anyone (Quayle?), can be a figurehead of government. You just have to choose an effective administration and put your betting money on the thinktanks. Edited September 11, 2003 by scrambler Quote

It is well-known in Washington circles that Dan Quayle was well-respected on and off the Hill. Believe what you want, but I think it was an example of how sound bites can kill an otherwise quality individual. Quote

Sphinx Posted September 11, 2003 Posted September 11, 2003 Quayle was probably a good guy. Unfortunately, he said so many stupid things that nobody will ever remember anything good about him. Quote

Yeah, so has George W, Al Gore, etc. They all do, it seemed that the press went after Quayle with a new sort of maliciousness, though. Quote
scrambler Posted September 11, 2003 Author Posted September 11, 2003 You have to beware the sorcerer's apprentice. I heard that's why Bush Sr. chose Quayle as his running mate. Now, George the Younger...that's another story. Quote
rbw1966 Posted September 11, 2003 Posted September 11, 2003 I once heard Dan Quayle described as the Barney Fife of the Bush administration. They gave him a bullet to keep in his pocket and just hoped he didn't shoot himself in the foot with it. Quote

bunglehead Posted September 11, 2003 Posted September 11, 2003 Yeah, that was actually pretty hilarious. Gore. Quote

Reagan was a Democrat for a long time; I think he switched during (or soon after) the Black Listing era in Hollywood. He was President of the Screen Actor's Guild at the time, I believe. Quote
