Sonny Bono was a Republican? What was Clint Eastwood (Mayor of Carmel)? Fred Thompson (Senator from Tennesee?) was a Republican. It's funny you bring this up, it seems that Republicans are getting into politics and the Democrats (like Martin Sheen, Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins, et al) just sit on the outside and carp about everything.

I think anyone, well almost anyone (Quayle?)

I would say, from what I know, that Quayle would have performed just fine. It is well-known in Washington circles that Dan Quayle was well-respected on and off the Hill. Believe what you want, but I think it was an example of how sound bites can kill an otherwise quality individual.

Quayle was probably a good guy. Unfortunately, he said so many stupid things that nobody will ever remember anything good about him.

Yeah, so has George W, Al Gore, etc. They all do, it seemed that the press went after Quayle with a new sort of maliciousness, though.

I once heard Dan Quayle described as the Barney Fife of the Bush administration. They gave him a bullet to keep in his pocket and just hoped he didn't shoot himself in the foot with it.

I think that might apply to just about any vice president, based on my observations.

Cllint was a Republican (what else would you be in the city of Pebble Beach) Sonny was too.

I was thought clebrities choosing to be Republicans had more to do with a party that was willing to accept anyone they thought had a chance of winning the_finger.gif

hehehe. I don't know. Reagan was a Democrat for a long time; I think he switched during (or soon after) the Black Listing era in Hollywood. He was President of the Screen Actor's Guild at the time, I believe.
