The good folks at a local climb shop told me City of Rocks can be reached in 10 hours driving nonstop, but my pal tells me its much more than that. I searched cc.com and found lots about the City but no-one mentioned drive time.

Anyone know the drive time from Seattle to City of Rocks?

i have not been there, but i have driven to jackson hole several times, driving through Idaho, and have made it there in 14-15 hours. and that is quite a bit farther so i would think 10-11 hrs to the city would be about right.

driving tip #1 -drive fast and stop rarely

it's actually closer to 14-16 hours, IMHO

That was in a 1971 VW camper, mind you tongue.gif

in that case, consider it a new land speed record for vw!

Mister E is smoking crack or has the smallest bladder in the world. You could drive to Jackson and back to Idaho Falls in that time. It is probably 10-11 from Seattle. About 8-9 from Eugene, depending on traffic cutting across Hwy 20 to Burns, OR.

This being in THE NEW ROCK CLIMBING FORUM , a gentlemen's forum, I will presume your reference is to sending hard splitters

Don't drive. Fly to Boise or Pocatello or Salt Lake City, rent a car or pick up a partner, and head em on out to Almo. RT tix can be had for $69 quite regularly; check the Alaska Air webspecials and those of other airlines. That gets you at least one more day of climbing....probably 2.

fyi, it's 700 driving miles from Seattle to Almo/The City. All but the last 50 or so miles is wide open interstate.
