allthumbs Posted July 9, 2003 Posted July 9, 2003 How do you feel about camouflage in the mountains? Does it make you nervous to encounter someone dressed in camo? Part of the low impact philosophy is avoiding colors that shout "Over here, I'm camping over here!" from a mountain range away. But camo is really taking things a step further towards invisibility -- verging on deceit, when it comes right down to it, some think. Also, it has a definite association with a particular political point of view that is historically different from the recreational climbing and backpacking crowd. Quote

b-rock Posted July 9, 2003 Posted July 9, 2003 Last year I was backpacking with some friends and on the way out we noticed all these dudes in camo running around with guns (and one dude with a big machete), ducking behind trees and rocks. Kinda freaked me out until we realized they were paintball guns and not trying to kill us. Quote
