Lambone Posted May 15, 2003 Posted May 15, 2003 A couple of my friends want to learn how to aid climb (just the basics), but we won't have enough time to drive out to Index. Anyother ideas on good places to practice aid climbing? A simple bolt ladder will do. Gyms are out of the question... Quote
MysticNacho Posted May 15, 2003 Posted May 15, 2003 You could always just aid some cleanish easy crack somewhere. Quote
rr666 Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 Try a tree... otherwise, open rafters work well to practice traversing. Don't ever get too far off the ground, but it is good to get cleaning traverses down as well... Â Quote
catbirdseat Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 There is a bolt ladder on the wall next to the parking lot at the Mountaineers Club building. Have at it. You might want to ask permission but it is handy. Alternatively, you could use Marymoor Rock. The bolts are close enough together, I suppose. Quote
Lambone Posted May 16, 2003 Author Posted May 16, 2003 Is that the same place as the bookstore downtown? Quote
Dru Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 Hang a rope with loops tied in it off a balcony and have them clip up the loops like each loop is a bolt. It'll swing around a bit and be more tricky than just a bolt ladder. call it a vertical slackline and start a new craze. Quote
Bill_Simpkins Posted May 17, 2003 Posted May 17, 2003 underneath stairs. sling the stairs and clip them like pro. Good for roof technique. I do this all the time. Quote
Ade Posted May 23, 2003 Posted May 23, 2003 I use the Marymoore Park climbing wall in Redmond, there are some big cracks on the N side that will take gear and numerous bolts you can clip too. Quote
North_by_Northwest Posted May 24, 2003 Posted May 24, 2003 There is a bolt ladder in Husky Stadium. Quote
