imorris Posted December 6, 2001 Posted December 6, 2001 Does anyone know how I go about sharpening an Ushba Altai Ti Axe? Can I just take a standard file to it or what? -Iain Quote
Ibex Posted December 6, 2001 Posted December 6, 2001 You should be able to just take a file to it. It wont hurt to try. YOu will figure out really quick if the file is removing metal. I bet you a Guinness it works just fine. If it doesnt work, you can do the dremel trick CAREFULLY!! Quote
Backcountry Posted December 6, 2001 Posted December 6, 2001 It'll work...sanding with a dremel may be easier though. Install one of the small drum sanding pieces and have at it... Ti sparks are pretty...BC likey... Quote
Backcountry Posted December 6, 2001 Posted December 6, 2001 It was funny reading the recent post here about Pinnacle Peak stuff...About 3 years ago in December- Halling, myself and couple others were up there... I was there to gape, and Halling and crew were to do some bidness...The weather was crap and we had a HUGE snowcave...Two rooms big enough for 6 people; one room for 2, one room that had 4 in it but could have fit 6...(yeah it turned to rain and it about fell on us the next am) So anyways one of the guys there was talking about asking his Dad for some gear for Christmas and he said he wound up with some big assed heavy shit that was more suited for white-trash camping...Straight outta the Gander Mountain catalog... Thats where it all started...then when I saw the friggin Denali Harsh Realm post thats where Team Gander Mountain came into existence on the cc board... Yeah and ask Halling about that weekend and the blue bag and the Therma-Rest turned on its side as I am trying to pack my gear up to get down the hill... Sean_Halling Posted December 6, 2001 Posted December 6, 2001 No doubt about it....Gander Mountain is real. I have to thank Jeff Tiegs (who is probably zapping bad guys in Afghanistan now)for introducing us all to this fine equipment manufacturer. I only hope that Jeff has his GM bag with him now. Quote
