dalius Posted April 18, 2003 Posted April 18, 2003 I was planning on heading to Leavenworth this weekend for some cragging, but am also toying with the idea of heading up to Colchuck to climb the N. Butress Couloir. I'm meeting some friends for rock, but am having trouble convincing them to venture out into the cold and snow. Anyone interested? My only hesitation on going is the avy danger up there, with this whole region being north facing and they've been getting a little bit of fresh up there. I guess it's the descent down Colchuck glacier that I'm more concerned about. Anyway, PM me if you're interested or post on this thread, or send on email... Quote
Alex Posted April 21, 2003 Posted April 21, 2003 Solo it. The road is open most of the way, should take about 12 hours round trip. Alex Quote
DPS Posted April 21, 2003 Posted April 21, 2003 We ran into Iceguy and DBB and could see a number of parties on Colchuck. Don't know about Sergio though. Quote
JoshK Posted April 21, 2003 Posted April 21, 2003 Man, sounds like a royal clusterfuck at colchuck lake this WE. Glad I went elsewhere. Quote
JayB Posted April 22, 2003 Posted April 22, 2003 I am a one man cluster when I am in top form, but my game must have been off this Saturday as I did not take part in any cluster action on Colchuck this weekend. With the exception of Bronco's brief sighting of another party on the summit, we didn't encounter anyone else on the approach, the mountain, or the route itself, although we did see a few folks heading into the lake for overnighters on our way out. Viva le Cluster! Quote
klenke Posted April 22, 2003 Posted April 22, 2003 Sergio, Tom, and I did NBC/NWF of Colchuck on Friday afternoon (4/18) and left nice steps all the way to the summit. Yes, you're welcome. We hiked out Saturday morning. Quote
