sobo Posted April 9, 2003 Posted April 9, 2003 ummmm... Horsethief Butte park? (is that 541 or 509?) Quote
rr666 Posted April 9, 2003 Posted April 9, 2003 Horsethief is in 509, but from there you can see 541, just across the small stream we call the Columbia  It also looks a bit like Potholes, but that is also 509... doh! Quote

jkrueger Posted April 9, 2003 Posted April 9, 2003 Nice work on the backyard landscaping -- functional, yet it embraces the elements of your surroundings to evoke a sense of natural peace and tranquility. This peace, in turn, simultaneously provides for and contrasts nicely with the explosive power necessary to send Double Dog Yellow Streak (V4). Quote

It keeps washing away in that little stream. Quote

erik Posted April 10, 2003 Posted April 10, 2003 LOOKS KINDA LIKE A MINI HAPPIES B4 THE BOLDERING CRAZY KILLED THE AREA!!! Â Â Quote
gapertimmy Posted April 10, 2003 Author Posted April 10, 2003 good guess fejas, not crack in the ground, kind of a similar formation though. my 2 fav cracks in the ground are the little maze of canyons around sparks lake, and there is a dope one out by the lava butte flow south of bend. Â its amazing to crawl down in those things on a hot summer day and get instant air conditioning. Â last clue: there is a much larger formation just like this one to the immediate NE, but it is closed 1/2 of the year due to, you guessed it, nesting birds Quote

Is this near Paulina lake???-- ^  Is the large formation Steins pillars, and the pictures were taken around that area???  Have you rapped down in some of the cracks that are on the edge of the Crooked R Canyon... they're cool, although they are barly wide enough for a body, but they go down aprox 20ft... I found a rattle snake den at the bottom of one of them, good this it was march, and they were so dormant that the didn't even know i was there...   Quote
erik Posted April 10, 2003 Posted April 10, 2003 fejas  you gotta go back and burn all those fuckers to death!!!   Quote

Snakes and spiders are two of the most feared small creature on the planet, and they do us the most good... think of all the insects, and rodents that would plauge the world if we were without them... gapertimmy Posted April 14, 2003 Author Posted April 14, 2003 the correct answer was submitted via email. said rock formation is in the badlands wilderness just east of bend, north of hwy 20. Â the area is sensitive nesting habitat for birds, and picto/petroglyphs are abundant so bouldering is not permited. for those whole like to wander and are into geologic formations, this place is amazing. Â stay tuned for the next installation of where in the 541? Quote
Fejas Posted April 14, 2003 Posted April 14, 2003 Damn, I didn't even think of the bad lands... Did you hed down from the canal of up from 20? Quote
gapertimmy Posted April 15, 2003 Author Posted April 15, 2003 i actually go in from the north, always forget the name of the road, but its a bit easier to access that way, these picts are of a formation just west of badlands rock Quote
