DCramer Posted February 11, 2003 Posted February 11, 2003 Jamie gets it! I know this site is more alpine oriented than rock but I am amazed that Jamie's feat generated so little in the way of comments. Climbing Artifice clean is hands down the most fully committed Cascade climbing I have read about on this board. I was so blown away that last night I dreamt that I was checking out the cam placements unroped high up on the route and then because they were so wild I had to scamper over to the bomber jams on City Park so I wouldn't fall off! (Hey it's a dream) For those who don't know Artifice starts up the Bat Skins "arch" just left of City Park. It soon breaks away from the arch a climbs straight up a crack/seam to an old two-bolt station and then follows an even thinner crack past a bolt and some fixed heads to a point where it ends. From there a swing is made to Bat Skins which is followed to a belay at a small ledge. The route continues on with easier climbing. Unless they have been replaced, the bolts would be hard pressed to hold a long fall. I'd bet my next paycheck that a fall from the tension traverse with only cam hooks and the odd fixed piece for protection would be a grounder. Did he even bring a hammer? Amazing! I am going to have to pack a beer every time I go to Index just in case I run into him! Quote
erik Posted February 11, 2003 Posted February 11, 2003 SAVE THAT BEER FOR HIM AFTER HE GETS BACK FROM HIS NEXT TRIP!!!!!! HE IS CRAZY!!!!! Quote
Lambone Posted February 11, 2003 Posted February 11, 2003 yeah, thats pretty damn cool, I'll drink a beer in his honor ...cam hooks are scary! Quote
COL._Von_Spanker Posted February 11, 2003 Posted February 11, 2003 It was cool. He seemed so calm. You wouldn't even have known he was doing something so badass. The sound of the pounding on manky flake was interesting. One Crazy M'r F'r Quote
Yos Posted February 11, 2003 Posted February 11, 2003 The most commited Cascade climbing occured on the lower town wall? But then again why nitpick, the guy can send. Quote
DCramer Posted February 11, 2003 Author Posted February 11, 2003 Yos, Go check out the route it is really amazing that he climbed that thing without using a hammer. Quote
Lambone Posted February 11, 2003 Posted February 11, 2003 Bassed on an age to baddass ratio I vote for colin. Scot'eryx is a close second Quote
Yos Posted February 11, 2003 Posted February 11, 2003 Haven't seen the line up close, but that's 'cause my brain subconsciously ignores thin, scary seems. Quote
TimL Posted February 11, 2003 Posted February 11, 2003 (edited) I've seen Artiface and I've seen Crazy Jamie on it before. Both are bad ass. Right on Crazy Jamie I think someone needs to find a "puff the magic dragon" gremlin in honor of Jamie! Edited February 11, 2003 by TimL Quote

Dwayner Posted February 12, 2003 Posted February 12, 2003 A lot of people aren't voting because you didn't add Dwayner and pope to the list. Quote
