sexual_chocolate Posted October 15, 2001 Posted October 15, 2001 Does anyone have any beta for one of the most infuriating climbs I have recently tried? It's the stem corner, "numbah ten" or "ten percent" or somesuch, just left of Iron Horse, if I remember right. At Index. Couldn't even get started! Anyone? Quote
sexual_chocolate Posted October 15, 2001 Author Posted October 15, 2001 Hey Lambone, balance on what? I remember something for my right foot down low, two little smear-bulbs up high for my hands, left side and right side....and then, futile grunting with no upward progress. What the heck? Quote

Oh sorry, I meant balance in your aiders. Come next Tuesday Quote
sexual_chocolate Posted October 15, 2001 Author Posted October 15, 2001 You are going to go aid it next Tuesday? Am I understanding you correctly? I did want to free it.... Quote
Wallstein Posted October 15, 2001 Posted October 15, 2001 What exspensive gear are you talking about? There are two biners at the anchor on numbah ten. I have no idea what shut you are talking about. There are shuts on top of ten percent but that is to the left of Jap gardens. Quote
Matt Posted October 15, 2001 Posted October 15, 2001 I was mistaken. I think the expensive gear is on top of Amandala, the crack above and to the right of Numbah Ten. Quote
sexual_chocolate Posted October 15, 2001 Author Posted October 15, 2001 Thank you Wallstein, for the beta. I shall attempt said climb this weekend, weather permitting. Quote

I thought Amandla (note correct spelling, Zulu for "I am a strong white boy" ) was an arete not a crack?? Quote
Matt Posted October 15, 2001 Posted October 15, 2001 Dru, you are right. Amandala is the arete. Is the crack directly to the right of the Amandala arete called Ten Percent? I'm not sure what it is. Quote
sexual_chocolate Posted October 15, 2001 Author Posted October 15, 2001 It goes up the stem corner, then traverses right, under a roof, then up a left-hand arete for thirty feet or so. And I think Amandla means "freedom"? Quote
Dru Posted October 15, 2001 Posted October 15, 2001 He was going to call it Mandala but he changed the spelling so Chris Sharma could call a boulder problem that 15 years later Quote
Wallstein Posted October 15, 2001 Posted October 15, 2001 Matt- The route to the right of Amandala is the full Iron Horse Quote
Matt Posted October 15, 2001 Posted October 15, 2001 Previously there was a post about someone not remembering the names of crag climbs, I guess I'm one of those people. :-) Thanks for clearing that up Wallstein. Quote

Cpt.Caveman Posted October 15, 2001 Posted October 15, 2001 If you were to link all the cracks could you call it "the Crack Whore Amandla was fed to Japanese Horses" linkup? 5.19B Quote
