One main difference is that the width of the cam lobes is larger on the zeros, because the wire mechanism on the Aliens is inset into the lobes. That is both the main advantage, and disadvantage of Aliens, you get more lobes in the pin scar, but the springs get gummed up and are hard to clean.

The zeros look nice, I'd buy 'em.

Used the #6 quite a bit at Red Rocks last fall. Really liked the flex stem and the trigger action. That size seems to be about equiv to the .5 BD Cam but lighter. Also got one of the joke sizes (#2) but it will take some practice before I'm willing to hang on it. Really, it does look like it will break without much trouble. But the nominal strength rating is pretty impressive and it is an active device...

Here is my take on the Z’s I own the 3 (yellow) that equal to Blue Alien and the are about the same the only benefit of the Z’s over the Aliens is in the in super shallow crack Otherwise the Aliens are Stronger, Narrower headed, Longer and smother to operate

BTW for the smallest sizes (1, 2) there is nothing like Lowe balls (Trango ballnutz) I just don’t see the reason of using them when there is a better piece for the job

For super shallow cracks I use the splitter gear Two Cam
