quote: Originally posted by b-rock: Yeah, no kidding. I hadn't climbed rock at all before this year, and now I'm leading easy trad and doing alpine routes previously unimaginable. No classes, few books, just a lot of searching and sifting and slack time at work, followed by as much climbing as I could muster. I've met, drank, climbed, and puffed with almost a dozen good people that I've met here. Climbing has done so many positive things for me this year and for that (and this site) I am grateful. werd

one thing that i read alot is the climbing community...there is none here in washington...there certainly is groups of people who climb together and mix and match..but as far as a community goes there is none... this is evident in people bashing the mtneers, what style of climbing is better then the other and so on... i do not think cc.com tries to repersent the climbing community(see above) but it does supply a medium where random climbers can meet other random climbers... i think the aac sucks here and i have thought for a long time....i am not into regimental standards like the mtneers or other similar groups use.....and these are tools to meet people...just as cc.com is........ it is like a runway show...you put yourself out there and see what comes back!!! have fun......

quote: Originally posted by COL. Von Spanker: Once while at 38 we had bought some beers for a post climbing drink. So to keep them cold we put them in the creek and covered with rocks. They were tied up in a plastic sack. So after the days climbing we uncovered our beers and took them back to the car, only to find that we were one short. Appearantly someone uncovered the beers took one, re-tied the bag, put it back in the creek. I guess it's good they only took one and not the whole bag. It was actually rather funny. thanks!

quote: Originally posted by Necronomicon: My name is Justin Thibault. I live in Bellingham, WA. There, I said it. It seems like "Allison" gets some mean-spirited abuse, from my perspective. My opinion on this site is that, yeah, I do get some useful info, and it is a sort of collective consciousness for the WA climbing community. But, like any population, there are examples for every type of person, assholes and angels included. So, if "well-respected" climbers don't want to have anything to do with this site, yay for them. I'll stick around until I get sick of it. -God i thought you were getting sucked deeper into the shit.....so you are screwed my friend....

doolitte.. do not buy a ford product(mazada) nissans are not bad..... look into a hecy s10 w/ 4.3L v6...chevrolet flodded the market with them and that has kept the market value low on these trucks.. i had one...in 3 years put 124K on it...with only one problem...we blew the coil...from jumping another car inncorrectly. it has the largest cab space out of all the small trucks, the best motor(toyota way underpowered) and the best frame/chassis. the trucks come with daytime running lights, 2 aibbags, door impact beams 4 wheel anilock disc brakes(no other truck manufactur does that!) i am biased but the truck fucking ruled!!!!!! i beat the shit out of it...even coming in contact with the guardrail on i-90 and only part of the bummper was damaged!!!! screw ford and mopar... and yota's are over rated!!!!

quote: Originally posted by Fence Sitter: yes...i may sound like a mountie, but always verbally check double backs. i saw a guy take a fall who i noticed they didn't check each other on canary and took a lil screamer...i heard a schhhhh as the velcro came undone and the guy started screaming that his harness was comming off... luckily he was only .5 pitch up and was able to be slowly and smoothly down, but wow... how close was he to decking on those jagged rocks at the bottom? i yused to think things like taht were for geek mounties until i saw that and wow i will never not check my partner and insist that he checks me... did you just smoke a bowl?????
