  1. No, I'd expect Japan to be the clear leader - constitutionally obligated to pacifism - minimal overseas military presence. And guess what? They are.
  2. manifesto would be a better term for his tome.
  3. Yes, I find JayB's continued insistence that Europe is a monolith devoid of invention, innovation and science compared to the rest of the world because of their draconian taxation and social practices terribly amusing, not to mention counter to fact. As for "trajectory" one need only compare Europe relative to S. America and Africa to see who the real losers have been in the last 6 decades.
  4. I love your dogma JayB
  5. Which summer? Most of the "cool towns" are open 4 seasons. Get on bus, go down Chilean side. Hit end of the world, go back up Argentine side. Btw: skip Uruguay. Paraguay is interesting... there isn't much to Uruguay and what there is is better in Buenos Aires.
  6. Yup... Well that and you've alot of really nice mountains
  7. Huh? They are expanding into Tibet as a means of conquering a "renegade" province. The Han Chinese view China as always having been theirs despite ideas of independence on the part of the misguided and backwards theocratic Tibetans. Not entirely dissimilar from their views of the Republic of China (Taiwan)

  9. It's where JayB gets his posts from.
  10. In what way does the $7-9 billion an month we're blowing on Iraq constitute crisis spending? A crisis of our own making, perhaps. Don't you sleep safer at night knowing Saddam Hussein isn't pointing the WMD he didn't have at you and isn't training the terrorists who weren't there?
  11. www.skype.com
  12. JayB- Are you going to codify this in some sort of "War on Terror Manifesto"? It'd be the perfect thing for aspiring rightists to prominently put on their coffee table for centuries! You could inspire hundreds of regimes!
  13. Except in Chicago or Florida* *Votes may exceed or be beneath the the legal limit in these jurisdictions
  14. You certainly spend enough time on this shithole forum. Is it a self esteem issue? Do you need a hug? Shouldn't you be out registering gays, lesbians, crack mothers and welfare scammers to vote?
  15. And I was just waiting for you to once again defend "the war on terror" Comeon JayB - admit that in the hands of W it's opportunistic bullshit - witness the complete absence of coverage of the homegrown british terror wackjobs vs. the incompetent arab liquid bombers. The coddling of cuban terrorists and others (like Gerry Brown - who is on the Terror watch list, but gets to meet with W at the white house). The focus on Islamic threats when Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs and Christians operate terror cells. It's farce JayB - the emperor has no clothes! Comeon JayB - say it! Say it! There's nothing wrong with a war on terror in theory! It's just nobody has come up with a working war on terror yet!
  16. Why Luis Posada Carriles of course - implicated by our own government in the bombing of Cubana Flight 455 which killed 73 people, including the entire Cuban fencing team (there were a few low level party functionaries aboard - such as the director of the shrimp fleet). The Bush administration has steadfastly refused to classify him as a terrorist - most recently last Wednesday. We refuse to extradite him because he may be tortured Now back to your bloviating defense of a moral relativist regime.
  17. I'll bite my tongue and say "what do you expect of a get out the vote minion?"
  18. Hey - it's the "I'm losing both the argument in one thread so I'll restate it somewhere else" tactic. Neat. The absolutist statements that you were spewing out before you ran away to another thread have way more in common with the "It's in the bible therefore I believe it" perspective that you are referring to than anything that I've articulated. Only people that live in some kind of a cloistered dreamworld or refuse to acknowledge the kind of moral complexity that one normally encounters in the real world, beyond the age of twelve, could possibly hang onto the kind of perspective that you bring to pretty much any political realities that get discussed here from time to time. Don't you have Cuban "not terrorists" to coddle?
  19. So are farts, and I still find them hilarious. BTW, I'm on a Dell. Best cleavage in the GOP. Move On, Bill Maher! Mom votes Republican? Or maybe its her percolator... keep stacking the ballot box there William Tweed, maybe you'll get a hit
  20. Oooh, one post too late for the one two punch. I hate when that happens, don't you? Now you run along and play with your emoticons, Ratskywatsky. Now tavawerwafsafadfjh is learning how to spray properly. Keep it Coulter!
  21. You know who else was a househusband? Marx and mine runs $2/kg - cheaper than Republican base Folgers
  22. JayB's post was recycled. He's used the same latte liberal schtick for years. Goes to show there's nothing new under the sun. Now back to your Boss Tweed machine.
  23. Nicely countered with the same disdainful faux-optimism I was criticizing! We could go about this endgame forever with people only evaluating us on the form and wit of our retorts and not the content of our speach .... and that'd be just like politics Somehow I think the Indians and Chinese are laughing harder though.
  24. If it makes you feel better JayB, if it makes you feel better. All sides of the American electorate - from right of Attila the hun (Ayn Rand followers) to those left of Lenin (chomskyists) seem to prefer spectacle to substantive debate now. I could go on and tritely characterize your Hayek quoting cigar smoking conservatism, but it's just another actor in the tragedy, a rather sad and boring opera. You can argue whatever causations you want; it matters not to me - but it illustrates well why we don't give a fuck.
  25. Try learning how to dance. Want respect? Show some. We've gotten the bellicose conservative and the witty condscending conservative to post - now I need a self described independant chiming in with their disgust for tic-tac-toe. Ah, this thread, so perfect, so perfect. We've turned death into sideshow laughter and amusement.
