Polish Bob went off on me about this theory and said BD won't make em cuz of this and testing results. Anyone have any remarks or better yet, Evidence? Polish Bob's Screamer Theory: 1.You fall onto a screw w/a screamer leading on twins. 2.Rope streches then.. 3...then the screamer rips after the strech is out of the rope 4.screamer shock loads screw cuz the rope stretch is gone, and extension occurs cuz the screamer is now huge. Makes sense IF: 1.Screamer rips after rope stretch, not concurrently 2.force absorbed by rope stretch far outweights force absorbed by screamer ripping.

I want a van to live out of for the summer, but also to use around town and ice climbing in winter. I've seen sweet decked-out Astrovans that have 4wd and seem to get very good gas milage. Any other reccomendations or support for the Astrovan? What do you think about the Ford Econoline? I know they are tough and last, but price? gas milage? I'm not getting a VW so don't bother to tell me to get one.

one more thing. DON'T RAP ON SPECTRA. I have no idea where you found 30-60 meters of that shit, but concider it's low melting point and the large amount of heat generated on rappel. You will die most certainly.

I use 6mm perlon also. Here is my system. At the anchor I tie the two strands together w/a death knot with the knot on the skinny side of the anchor. Then I tie a fig-8 on a bight on the skinny rope very close to anchor and clip a biner to it. Then I clip that same biner to the lead line. This way when I rap, all my weight is on the lead line. The big problem with this setup is that you MUST PULL the skinny line and that is #1) a bitch and #2) bad juju if the rope gets stuck cuz then you gotta lead or jug up a 6mm rope. However, I have pulled my ropes through some shit and have never (serious knocking on wood) got them stuck. If one was to reverse the knot (no biner, fig-8 etc) and pull the ez pulling lead line, the 6mm is sure to get wicked stuck as it tumbles down in all it's twisting knoting glory.

I'll make a ski porn category if judges submit such votes. This will probably turn out to be a annual or bianual thing. Maybe merchandising too. send me you checks.
