Looking for a few partners to sharpen leading skills for summer in the gym and outside. Either Stone Gardens location to lead 10's and 11's on weekday evenings, Vantage or exit 38 if possible for the weekends. I've been climbing about 10 yrs and mountaineering about half that. PM if any of this works, Thanks, Tobias

This is great, thanks. I'm going to play around with printing options to get it to the usual 7.5' scale but it seems like it's the 3rd zoom out. I get the impression that as I zoom in and out I'll get different print areas.

Is the IT issue on the same side as you carry your wallet? I had IT issues until I stopped carrying my wallet in my back pocket. I was aggravating the muscles attached to the IT band which tightened it.

I've finally gotten good enough that my size 31 boots are not cutting it anymore. Anyone have a pair for sale, street shoe sz 12-ish?

Solid work guys, and thanks for the report. Glad to see there is still so much snow up there. Would you care to share anything you gleaned from the Bachelor Creek descent map?

$60 plus shipping or pickup in Fremont. They retail for $140. They're just too small for me, they'd be appropriate for a size 12 foot. They've been to the gym a dozen times but never outside. PM if interested. Tobias

Hi, yeah I got the topo. Thanks for that, it's great. I'll be in touch if I don't get it finished up tomorrow. Tobias

I started this climb a week ago with Rocketparrotlet but we got rained off after 6 pitches. I'd like to go finish it up. I'm looking for somebody that can simulclimb 5.7 reasonably quickly, and can follow 5.10+. I'm happy to swing leads, or to do most of the leading. I've got a rope and some draws, we'd need another 60m rope and some more draws. Thanks, Tobias I'll be out and about today so call or text six 07 227 9934

I think I lost my camera in the back of the pickup of the friendly couple that gave me a lift from Little Giant to Phelps Creek trailheads a few days ago. If you gave me a lift, could you have a look in the flatbed! Thanks

I had a trip planned for three nights, leaving Friday, but my partner is having knee issues and it would be unwise for him to go. I'd still like to take advantage of the good weather and climb a few peaks. Our plan was to start from Stehekin, climbing Logan, Goode via NE buttress, and Storm King. I'd like to do something similar, though if I can find someone fired up about something else, that's fine too. Another plan would be a few 8000+ non-technical peaks in the Glacier Peak Wilderness north of Trinity. For either trip I need a partner that's fit and comfortable scrambling 4th class. I've got a car in N Seattle. PM if you're interested. I'm 33, lead 5.9 trad and have maybe 20 days of glacier travel experience. Tobias

[TR] Prusik Peak - South Face Beckey-Davis 7/10/2011

Yeah nice photos of great rock. I didn't know that finger crack was there but it looks great. -
Worn to the gym 3 or 4 times, close to new. Should have gone with the 46. Pick up in Fremont or Kirkland. Tobias

From the perspective of a flyfisher and native ecology junky this is going to be awesome. The amount of wilderness salmon habitat above those dams is staggering, and the river's beautiful up there. I guess it's still a long way off even after they remove the dams but I can't wait to hike the upper tributaries and see salmon redds.

There was a big study of the grizzlies (or lack of grizzlies) in the national park this summer, I've looked around for the results of the study but haven't found anything. Anybody know anything about it? They set 90 baited barbed wire snares to snag hair which they DNA tested. The bears are always kind of in the back of my mind when I'm up there, just find them fascinating. Thanks.

Wow. Seeing this in November is putting the hurt on my soul, way to get on it. -
Thanks for putting up the report Ty, here are some shots: Pitch 1 Summit slopes Excavating rappel anchors

The bag is the LONG RHZ and comes with an E-vent compression sack. It's gotten its share of use but has been stored properly and lofts well. It has a small zipper bite on the draft collar which I duct taped, and later seam gripped, and some discoloration of the collar from normal use. Bought in 2006. $290. 700 fill Marmot down puffy, lofts 2" thick, definitely a winter in camp jacket. Probably a 35-36" arm. I tore a small hole in the sleeve which I had professionally repaired. Bought in 2008. $50.

Agreed, if anyone has an intro tele setup for someone around 180lbs size 12.5 I'd be greatful. Snowshoeing sucks, particularly on the way down. Tobias

Permit season is over in the enchantments area, there are some good routes in the Nelson guides up there.
-
There are small rainbows in most of the upper enchantments lakes, all of the bigger lakes I glassed in August had fish in them. I saw a few bigger (like 10-12 inch) rainbows in Isolation lake. I talked to a guy who claimed there were lake trout in that lake for what that's worth. From Prusik pass I could see fish rising in Shield lake, if I was headed up there to fish that's where I'd go. It's low enough that maybe the fish are actually able to grow there. If you make it up there I'd love to know if the fishing was decent. Not a bad climbing destination either.

That's scary, I hope you're able to replenish your gear supply and get outside again soon. I'll keep 'm peeled.

Yeah I looked at that chimney, I think the beckey topo is a little off but his route description is correct. There's a layback to the right off the 3rd class ledges, the correct chimney (low 5th) is on the south aspect with pretty sweet views.

I'm thinking mostly of trad 9's and 10's or bolted 11's. Davis Holland, godzilla thru sloe children, or the like. There are a few bolted 11's on the blues cliff which I'd like to give a shot. I've got a rack and a car. I'd also be interested in Infinite Bliss on Mt Garfield. Tobias
