  1. Oh good, since Planned Parenthood gets paid for with "attaboys" and "thumbs-ups" we can scratch them off the funding list.

You do remember the article from the first post in this thread don't you? Don't take my word, go back and reread the first page. Quit dodging! I don't need to re-read it to know there aren't millions of jobs available for the millions of unemployed or that nobody in it claimed that getting a job flipping burgers or picking fruit would help to secure a job demanding vast experience. Well, then if you remember the article you'll remember that some employers are only considering applicants who have employment history within six months. Obviously they have found a problem with the applicants who have been unemployed for more than six months. As I said, this is becoming more common so maybe make a note to yourself so you can remember it.
  3. I'd happily opt out of paying for public schools if it meant I had to send my kids to private school. Its seams that when TTK says that I should "fuck off" he really means that I should 'fuck off but keep paying for his social programs". No, I pretty much mean 'fuck off' cuz you're a tool. But keep paying for your social programs, right? Tool or not, planned parenthood and NPR isn't going to pay for itself, no? Those are the buzz-worthy causes for the week (I think).

Yeah, and I know ONE person around here that has ONE opening for ONE tech person. Feel free to send me a pm, we're looking for warehouse staff in PDX, we can't find any because the usuals are riding out their unemployment bennies.

I personally know a bunch of people who got laid off and took at least a year to find another job because of extended unemployment. While I'm sure there are areas that there just isn't work to be found that is not the case for the entire country, especially the Pacific Northwest. I haven't been unemployed a day in my adult life even though I've been laid off. Just because someone is unemployed doesn't mean they're lazy but 12 solid months of unemployment is a strong indicator that there may be a problem with the person. More anecdotal evidence but still no trace of the millions of jobs that would be needed to employ the millions of long term unemployed. I hope your job doesn't require more than fuzzy thinking. I am not sure how much experience you have in your profession but taking a menial and likely temporary job isn't the answer to being rehired in a position consistent with professional experience. 8. TTK lives in Seattle, what do you expect?
  9. Its hard to top a shiny new train, I know.
  10. Pretty much, yes. Virginia's a shithole. You ever lived there? I have. I can't wait to turn Washington into Mississippi! Go Toothless! Won't you miss the really fast trains?

This is a common hiring policy. Being unemployed for 12 months generally points to a larger problem with the applicant. Unemployment insurance should be a safety net, not an excuse for a 12 month vacation (which what a lot of people are using it for).
  14. Your position is flimsy, asking the state workers to contribute to their health care and pension was in lieu of layoffs. Since the governor has the votes he now going to remove any future obstacles. What's funny is that you're so locked into your political views that you're stuck trying to explain and excuse outright dishonesty and bad behavior. Its no wonder why you're trying to make the issue about me personally, all you have is deflection.
  15. Snyder got elected by the unions and has to negotiate or he'll lose his job. That isn't the case in WI.
  16. I don't support public employee unions, I've never said otherwise. shifting the goal post again. That's what you said "Regardless of what the Governor is doing I refuse to support liars." which means you'd consider supporting them against the governor if they weren't "liars" (actually they used sick days to go around the anti-labor laws that you support), which is a total lie. Actually it means that regardless of weather I agree with their point of view I refuse to to even consider it because their position is supported with deceit. In this case the governor tried to negotiate with them prior to the drafting the bill in question and since they refused to make any concessions they are now getting the short end. But even in light of that, the alternative is layoffs to meet the budget. I don't support public employee unions but even so, if all my employees called in sick and then recruited my customers to protest against me I'd fire all of them. There is no shortage of teachers who'd fill the roles, there's no reason for the state to get strong armed.

  18. Regardless of what the Governor is doing I refuse to support liars.
  19. Actually they're being dishonest and violating their terms of employment. Being out sick and at the demonstration proves this. They also brought their students so they could teach them dishonesty is OK so long as it gets you what you want when you're a state/union employee/member.
  20. That's a strange way to say that the Democrats in the WI senate fled the state in order to stall the bill that they know will pass against their wishes. I guess maybe the Union shouldn't have stiff armed the state when the state came to them with the budgetary shortfall. While I can understand why the union is trying to defend itself I don't sympathize with their position after they essentially told the state to fuck off.
  21. I saw a video of a union rep claiming the teachers were taking a personal day despite the fact that Madison school district has a three day prior notice policy for personal days. Lying about their activities makes it pretty hard to claim they are on the right side of the argument.
  22. As a teacher, how you do feel about the mass use of sick days to shut the school system down and encouragement by the teachers for students to join in protesting (in lieu of attending school)? Teacher's shouldn't politic the kids, IMHO. The kids do not have a clue what's going on, though, nor do their parents. Taking sick days? I guess they're sick. At least they're standing up for something they believe in. Is it ok to lie to your employer so long as you're "standing up for something"? What are these kids learning from this situation?
