  1. Yeah...never mind I guess. I'm getting sick of this pattern though- I've been climbing twice since September. I've had someone commit to a climb every (yes, every) weekend. I'm getting desperate. Maybe I'll take the bus to Leavenworth. -Mark
  2. Looking for a partner for Index this weekend. PM me if interested. -Mark
  3. Somebody's selling a pair of BD Rage tools for $175- that's a good price. Still a lot of money, though. The deal I got was GREAT- there was no turning it down. Maybe in due time. -Mark
  4. This thread cracks me up. Certain kinds of kitty litter, like silica gel, are strong dessicants. That might help. -Mark
  5. So is it good now or not? The bus is $27 each way from Everett to Leavenworth...should I come down or go to Index this weekend? -Mark
  6. Sounds cool! I might be busy, but if I'm not, that would be awesome. I could use some crevasse rescue and ETO practice. I live in Everett. If anyone local wants to meet up after work to practice skills, let me know. I want to be as safe as possible. -Mark
  7. I seriously don't see the problem here. If he wants to rappel, then no problem with that! I think it's fun. Plus if you're tired from leading all the crux pitches, misinterpreting the route would be easy. -Mark
  8. Seriously...anyone interested sans hitchhiking? -Mark
  9. I don't have a car...I'm 17. Trust me, I know how it is!
  10. I'd like to get onto some Leavenworth ice this weekend. I'd prefer to climb both days if possible. Is anybody interested? -Mark
  11. Improved version with resized pictures on Summitpost. http://www.summitpost.org/trip-report/586951/Ice-climbing-in-Leavenworth.html -Mark
  12. Thank you very much! I might be coming out this weekend, if conditions allow. What has the weather been like over there? -Mark
  13. Nice TR! Sounds like a lot of fun. I'd like to get out to Leavenworth this weekend. -Mark
  14. Seriously, Josh, I'd be careful. Better safe than dead. What is easy for some people is not necessarily easy for others. -Mark
  15. Cool! I'll have to check that out. -Mark
  16. What's so bad about wind? Just the fact that it makes you really cold, or something else too? Kind of random, but what do you guys do for gloves when it's really cold? -Mark
  17. I'd stay away from Bonanza, Josh. The objective hazard is too high for your (or my) current level of experience. -Mark
  18. "Cheap" is kind of an inside thing between Josh and I...he knows what I'm talking about. It doesn't mean obscure or hard to get to, I love places like that. I can't really explain it though. -Mark
  19. Are CMI cam nuts the predecessors to the tricam? -Mark
  20. Is rock climbing really a viable option in the winter here? I don't want to drive an hour to Index only to find out that the walls are iced over and not climbable. I've heard Little Si is good for winter rock, but it's mostly hard sport, and I'm looking more for easy to moderate trad. -Mark
  21. I love the names of the North Cascades mountains. Forbidden, Torment, Challenger, Fury, Terror, Storm King, etc. It just adds to their appeal. -Mark
  22. Very true! I wholeheartedly agree with you. The Pickets are probably the least-climbed mountains in the continent, and yet I would not turn down a chance to go, 10 miles of BW5 approach and all, because of the sheer beauty of them and the feeling of serenity. However, that line on Dark Peak does not look particularly unique, just with a longer, more strenuous approach than most. I'm not concerned about Josh having fun, I know he lives for that stuff! I'm concerned about him finding a partner who would have fun as well. If anyone is into that stuff though, I say go for it! -Mark
  23. Josh, I'm sorry, but it looks like you searched through every page on SP and chose the cheapest-looking mountain you could find. I'm sure you'll have lots of fun (you always do), but what was your reasoning behind Dark Peak instead of one of the thousands of other mountains here? -Mark
  24. Looking for a climbing partner for tomorrow (Jan 2nd) or Sunday (Jan 3rd). I'm game for ice (Leavenworth?), rock (Index?), or alpine. -Mark
