  1. Whoa dammit I was going to go there last weekend. Lucky I didn't. The cost to airlift out an SUV might be a bit expensive. Hopefully they clean this up ASAP. Thanks for the post.
  2. Tracking feature works. I've got one.
  3. Hey Marc so ya got you with your US buddy. Good on ya! Looks like a great time and by the way great climbing photos! Really impressed. Keep it up and soon you'll be shooting magazine quality climbing shots! See you later. Scott
  4. Ummm no lakes, meadows or trees....hmmmm what about Nabob Pass?
  5. Hey Marc! Too busy climbing to write a proper trip report...hint....hint... In any case I'll let the photos I took be my trip report. I shudder at writing a trip report. What to say? I am a humble man amongst giants around here...lol. Anyways if you want to see: 1) The Pantheons 2) Waddington from the Pantheons 3) Mike King's nice helicopter 4) Lots 'O alpine 5) And a place that VERY few people have been (aside from miners back in the 1970's and a few winter heli-skiers (according to Mike) 6) Some sick looking mountain walls that Marc would characterize as nice looking but scary loose in places.. Then head over here: http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/565277632lDOFcB
  6. I see the Waddington area as a super-sized version of the North Cascades. Minus the volcanoes of course!
  7. Glad you came up here to give it a go. Overlord is a nice hike/climb and its not much farther to go since you came so far. Its one of my few peaks (2x) in my very utterly humble mountaineering career. I remember that Refuse Pinnacle was the only itsy bitsy tricky part. Well the name fit the peak well... Come on back up soon - your dollar grows stronger by the day.
  8. Marc so you going to give Slesse another go again this weekend with your US friend? Cool that you tried Rexford east butress. Better luck next time.
  9. Great pics Dru, really enjoyed seeing them. Brings me back to the time I was in the Gwillim Lakes area.
  10. Sounds rough. Can't wait to see the pics.
  11. Why wouldn't they just pave the road up the Harrison West?
  12. Hey Marc. Great trip! I've been unpacking and cleaning up all day. I am bagged....Been looking over the photos and actually took over 2,000. Whew! Lots of good ones. Will be editing them tonight. See you later.
  13. Thanks for the help all. Just as a point of clarification I am going to hike and take pictures and of course soak up the "alpine ambiance" Marc Leclerc is the one planning to climb but I think he will take your cautions to heart.
  14. Great idea...if I had time...the SFU library has all the CAJ's and I used to love to read them but dang I'm leaving tommorrow!
  15. That's awesome John, thanks. Unfortunately we are going to be on the opposite side of these peaks. It looks like you flew right up Colwell Creek past Nirvana Pass. We have decided to check out the "back side" (well actually front side) of these peaks as this side is less visited and as far as we can tell provides better views of the surrounding peaks. Nirvana Pass is crammed between large, high peaks and the view from down there is more limited. Of all the peaks the north face of Astarte looks fantasic! We were thinking of going in there but decided to go to Siva Mountain as its a cheaper heli ride in. We would all love for you to post more pics if you can of this super area!
  16. No to try to upstage John Scurlock the master of Coast Range aerial photography here are my various attempts at being a semi-good aerial photographer (still trying to get the hang of it). 17. WOW some great pics. Love the vertical world you've captured!
  18. Go to Whistler this weekend the hardcore 4x4 way - up Harrison West FSR then up the Lillooet River Valley. Will take some time though as there's about 20km of rough 4x4 road to pass over. The rest is smooth sailing though!
  19. Every time I drove past there I was wondering when it was all going to peel off!!!!!!!!
  20. Hi John, Could you post a couple of images if you think they would be useful to us?
  21. Marc that's just a sub-summit of Vishnu...unless someone has named it? Although it is seperated enough from the main Vishnu massif to have a name. How bout you climb it then we can think up a good name for it. That peak might be easier than "Siva South Pillar" (as we are calling the spire mounted on the SE side of Siva. Doesn't that tower in the centre of the Vishnu massif look a bit Patagonian? I am sure when we are there we will be wondering about the climbing history of the peaks around us. This is the FA info I got from Bivouac.com: Vishnu Height: 3008 m (9869 ft) First Ascent: 1970 D. Boyd, E.& M. Kafer: W ridge This impressive peak is found at the east end of the Pantheon Range. The north face is glaciated and the east, south, and west faces are steep rock. There are a few huge towers, almost separate peaks, on the south ridge, separated from each other by steep, narrow notches where dykes have eroded away. Vishnu is one of the Hindu "Trinity" or three aspects of the same god; known as The Preserver. Brahma, the Creator, and Shiva, the Destroyer, are the other two. Previously mapped at 2960m, the new TRIM survey makes Vishnu the only 3000m peak in the Pantheon Range. Siva Mountain British Columbia Height: 2879 m (9446 ft) First Ascent: 1966 BCMC party: NW ridge Here's a great springtime pic of Siva's massive north face. The pillar you want to climb is the left hand skyline. The northern of the three "Trimurtri Peaks" (Byamee, Vishnu, and Siva), Siva is a variant spelling of Shiva. There are huge 900m walls on the NE side of Siva. The Siva Glacier lies on the W. side.
  22. Hi all, Great website here. Bivouac.com should have forums as well!! 2 of us are flying into the Pantheon Range this weekend with Mike King. Who knows the history of Siva Peak? What about what we are calling "Sand Creek Wall". There is a peak that's called Mt. Vetch on Bivouac.com (8520 feet). Its the big reddish peak just east of Siva. Anyone know if it has a claimed first ascent? We are going to try and give it a go. Any information wanted!!! Attached is a photo I took in 2006 from the Whitesaddle Mountain area in the Nuit Range which is right accross the Mosely Creek Valley from where we are going this year.
  23. WOW great trip, I'm going to drool over the photos for a while..
  24. Marc that's the way to go. Big nasty lines on scary loose peaks...
